Corruption in the NWFP government

It’s sad to see that even the religious parties have been corrupted by the trappings of power.

Allocating funds to treasury members: MPA claims Durrani’s action amounts to ‘pre-poll rigging’

The opposition in the NWFP Assembly walked out of proceedings on Monday when an MPA said the chief minister allocating development funds to treasury members for their constituencies amounted to “pre-poll rigging”. Former deputy speaker Ikramullah Shahid, who resigned from his post, said the chief minister had issued a notification on April 27 authorising the allocation of Rs 4 million each to 26 Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl MPAs. Ikramullah said public funds were not the sole property of treasury members. “These development funds are also for the opposition to use in their constituencies for public welfare,” he added. Ikram said the MMA government that came to power in the name of Quran and Sunnah had forgotten about justice and equality and was ignoring the opposition when allocating development funds.

ANP parliamentary leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour said what the chief minister did amounted to pre-poll rigging. PML-N’s Anwar Kamal Marwat said the opposition did not object to additional funds being distributed for development between the JUI-F and Jamiat-e-Islami (JI). “However, funds should be given to all members whether from the treasury or opposition, as these are for the welfare of the people and should not be limited to treasury members alone,” said Marwat. Arguments, allegations and counter-allegations led to a verbal clash between the opposition and treasury members, prompting the opposition to walk out of the House to protest the government’s attitude. However, they returned when the speaker asked a few treasury members to bring them back.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

corruption takes so many forms, I am not surprised at all. People will use anything to gain power and money. I hope, although doubt, some action will be taken. Thanks for posting this.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

They were always corrupt

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Corruption in the Frontier? Nah. Must be kidding.

They can not be corrupt because

  1. They are Pushtoons
  2. They are Pushtoons who were elected by Pushtoons.
  3. And above all

*They are Pushtoon Mullahs who were elected by other Pushtoon Mullahs. *

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

As if the non-pashtoon politicians in the rest of the country are any different.

Neither every Pashtoon is a Mullah nor every Mullah a pashtoon.

Corruption in Pakistani politics is not related to any ethnicity. Its an evil thats found as much in Punjabis, Sindhis and Balochis too. Without a few exceptions, all the politicians in this country are corrupt. Its not just a claim, its a fact.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Sheedan, you are right, but what he was trying to say was that some people from that deny all that, based on their ethnicity.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Dude, this isnt a forum for Pashtoon bashing… Regardless of their views…
I dont agree with them, but why should we alienate them further?

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Well said.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Yeap that's true! However Mullahs were not elected in Punjab or Sindh. That honor only goes to Frontier. And Mullahs are doing it in the name of Arabism and Islamism.

So make sure you don't elect Mullahtics next time.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

The lot YOU elected isnt any better either. They are as hypocrites as anyone else could be.
Look what the Punjabis used to say during elections n once they got elected they looted not only punjabis but the whole nation by CREATING SUGAR CRISIS( thats just one example ). I don't mean to bash Punjabis. Just to tell you pointing fingers at others is easy. Looking at your own dirty home n cleaning it is difficult. But we always prefer doing the easy things.
Lets not make it a Pashtoon/Mullah problem. Its a problem with the whole system, with all the politicians in all the provinces.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Please don't make this a Pashtun-bashing thread, as that was not my purpose for posting it. Shadan is correct this is a problem with almost all politicians (and other power groups) in all the provinces, and is not limited to any one ethnic group.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Mullahs are also human beings, always remember that. When we start putting human beings on unrealistic pedastels thats when disappointment sinks in.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Let Punjabis deal with their issues. This thread is about NWFP, so it is OK to bash the source of that corruption = Pushtoon/Mullah (or Talib).

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

Since you seem so obsessed with it, keep doing it. Lets see if that satisfies you.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

You mean corruption in NWFP would satisfy anyone? Nah! We should all work together to kick out the Mullahtic idiotics out of the Frontier. They belong to Kandhar, and that's where they should dwell.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

^ ignore him shadan..anti has tourettes syndrome..as for the JUI lot ..I think this is a very small example of corruption in the MMA crowd. Unfortunately Mush & Co are pandering to the corrupt lot in the Mullah Military Alliance quite a bit nowadays..it's an open secret (and cause of much anger for America) they have eased up on the pro taliban crowd.

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

zak man dont u get tired of posting all this bakwas about pakistan? u need to take some personal time, maybe even a vacation!

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

tmx: anti and his friends make racist comments about pashtuns, baloch, and Urdu speakers, supports renting Pakistan out to Amrika and I am posting bakwas about Pakistan?..the mind boggles..

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

A lot of the guppies make the mistake of confusing criticsm of the govt with criticsm of Pakistan...

Re: Corruption in the NWFP government

No answer for any rhetoric.
