Correct me

Re: Correct me

I agree completely.

2 way street. I have heard sunnis openly abusing the “Shia Quran” in books and in lectures even though the Sunnis and Shias share the same Quran.

Note that this statement operated under a bias of being Sunni. I suffer from it too. When trying to learn about another person’s religion, I am inclined to think that their version of Islam has to be wrong because of my own bias of being a Shia.

Subhanllah, my grandfather, spent his whole life searching for a religion that was correct. He was originally Ismaili, and eventually accepted Shiaism.

Re: Correct me

Within Shiaism, I have also found "holes" where people cannot explain their reasoning. The primary example for me, is that we can pray Zuhr / Asr and Maghrib / Isha together. I have not seen any viable evidence that the Prophet did it - so I try and pray 5 times when possible, which is also permissible.

I have talked to many of my Sunni brothers, and there are 2 main reasons that I could not accept it as my religion:

1 was because of their attitude towards hadith. I myself have seen so many contradicitons within Sahi books and I cannot understand how they can both be "Sahi." If they are not Sahi because of a contradiction, then how can you trust that the other sources in Sahih books are reliable.

the second is the Shia concept of having a leader on earth at all times (basically, Imaamat.) I find that this is a vital part of religion. For me, anyway.

Re: Correct me

Here are a few ahadith for you from Sahi Muslim

Book 004, Number 1515: **Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed the noon and afternoon prayers together, and the sunset and Isha' prayers together without being in a state of fear or in a state of journey.

Book 004, Number 1523: *'Abdullah b. Shaqiq reported: Ibn 'Abbas one day addressed us in the afternoon (after the afternoon prayer) till the sun disappeared and the stars appeared, and the people began to say: Prayer, prayer. A person from Banu Tamim came there. He neither slackened nor turned away, but (continued crying): Prayer, prayer. Ibn 'Abbas said: May you be deprived of your mother, do you teach me Sunnah? And then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) combining the noon and afternoon prayers and the sunset and 'Isha' prayers. 'Abdullah b. Shaqiq said: Some doubt was created in my mind about it. So I came to Abu Huraira and asked him (about it) and he testified his assertion.*

And last but not least Quran

*Establish regular prayers at the Sun's decline till the darkness of the night, and the recital of the Quran in the morning prayer; for the recital of the dawn is Witnessed.”
*
Qur'an 17:78

Prayers times from the Qur’an are three, not five.

  1. Sun's Decline
  2. Darkness of the Night *]The Morning Prayer. (PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT AS IF THERE ARE ONLY 3 NAMAZ IN SHIA RELIGON, THERE ARE FIVE NAMAZ'S BUT ALLOWED TO COMINBE ZUHR WITH ASR AND MAGHRIB WITH ISHA HENCE ONLY 3 TIMES)

Re: Correct me

Mashallah, thank you very much.

Why then are Sunnis not allowed to pray together?

Re: Correct me

brother sadiq
if u ask any shia ayutullah or aalim..he will tell you that it is preferred to pray all 5 namaz separately...they normally do too...but it is also in both shia sunni books that Prophet (pbuh&up) has prayed these namaz together

so if you can pray all 5 seprately thats great but if you cant thats ok too

Re: Correct me

Thank you all for sharing your wisdom :)
