Within Shiaism, I have also found "holes" where people cannot explain their reasoning. The primary example for me, is that we can pray Zuhr / Asr and Maghrib / Isha together. I have not seen any viable evidence that the Prophet did it - so I try and pray 5 times when possible, which is also permissible.
I have talked to many of my Sunni brothers, and there are 2 main reasons that I could not accept it as my religion:
1 was because of their attitude towards hadith. I myself have seen so many contradicitons within Sahi books and I cannot understand how they can both be "Sahi." If they are not Sahi because of a contradiction, then how can you trust that the other sources in Sahih books are reliable.
the second is the Shia concept of having a leader on earth at all times (basically, Imaamat.) I find that this is a vital part of religion. For me, anyway.
