Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
lol well when u cook with alcohol supposedly the alcohol burns away... dont know how true that is.
but alcohol is used in a lot of dif things here and used a lot in italian food specially with pasta sauces. pink sauce usually has either vodka or champagne but u dont really taste the alcohol and u def dont get drunk.
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
^lol.. yeah, everyone keeps saying the alcohol burns off..

Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
Pareezay - you can order without the beer. They pour it in the batter right at the time of cooking for the flavour
If you cooking at home - you can use substitute ingredeient minus the alchohol such as sparkling non-alcoholic apple cider or regualr sprite. It gives it the FIZZ in the batter
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
^ So they use the bear for fizz or also for the taste? cause with sprite or apple cider, you can replace the fizz factor but there is a huge difference between the taste of bear and cider ..
Ahem .. i mean, I was told by someone that there is a huge difference between the taste of bear and cider …![]()
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..

I think club soda or seltzer would be better substitute than sprite or cider.
I certainly hope that there’s a huge difference between the taste of bears and cider TLK Bhai! ![]()
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
^ Tell that to Nj .. she is the one suggesting bear by cider ..
^ No..u're the one suggesting BEARS instead of BEER!
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
and I kept doing it ![]()
that proves my innocence .. I dont even know the correct spelling, let alone the taste
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
Bear and Beer ![]()
They only pour it for the little bubbles in the batter. The quantity of beer or sprite or cider is very little. You can barely taste it.
Plain soda-water works well...
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
yes :)
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
Im not making them.. Im curious about the ones they serve in restaurants and if we are allowed to eat them.
It depends Pareezay I don't think so are allowed to eat or drink alcohol in any form. Even I heard that Olive Garden resturant's most dishes include alcohol.
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
Contrary to popular belief, usually a percentage of alcohol REMAINS AFTER cooking, percentage varying on degree of heat and method of cooking.
This was from an American study. If u google it u should find it. They have a table...
Re: corona/beer battered fish and shrimps..
