Extra Virgin Olive oil for cooking ( i try to make sure i cook on medium heat) and canola oil for deep frying.
Thanks Sidra. Why two different?
Do you consider olive oil as healthier than canola?
Thank you Sidra baji
We hear new things everyday! Canola has been alleged to cause serious brain problems recently. Corn oil has Omega 6 which is not good for your bones in the long run.
Avocado oil is being termed as best these days followed by Olive oil.
Thank you. Olive oil is ofcourse famous. I dont remember seeing avocado oil that much.
Avocado oil is the most expensive oil - Evidence-Based Health Benefits of Avocado Oil
I think the best oil for cooking is Canola oil or organic butter. They both have high smoke point. They dont get degraded at high heat. Canola oil also has more amount of omega 3 then corn or vegetable oil.
olive oil cannot stand high temperatures, so it's best to use it for salads and toasts, stir frys, etc.
Only avocado oil or ghee/butter.
No canola oil or that other crap vegetable oils.
But then what about the problem mentioned by @~RestLess~ ?
Canola Oil is made from a Genetically modified plant!
^Yikes
All 4 top oil mentioned are high in cholesterol or fat
Hard to believe your list is true
Depends on what am I cooking, usually is canola/corn or Desi organic ghee/butter and rarely olive
Avoid animal.fat or palm oil , destructive to health
Still undecided, but cannot disagree with above. Thanks
I repeat Canola oil (and vegetable oil in general) is crap, look up how it's made and ask yourself if you would be willing to consume it. Forget about the high smoking point for abit. And canola oil like other vegetable oils contain more omega 6 than omega 3, and not in the ratios that your body needs. We already consume more omega 6 through our diet, we need more omega 3.
i see there is some cholesterol fearmongering going on like was/is the case with eggs, even though only a small part of our cholesterol actually comes from food itself. And what wrong with fat? We all need fat in our diet to function, its not the devil.
Either avocado oil or grassfed butter/ghee, even better if its organic butter.
Good fat is ok but not a lot of fat ofcourse. Hence the discussion on that. From the thread I'm taking cooking oil selection depends upon what i'm really frying or cooking
Canola is said to be dangerous for your brain! Cant we cook our food without any oil?? We should look to the diet of the most healthy people on earth - the Japanese, the Hunzas
I wish but cant go all boiled, can we ![]()
Your article doesn’t mention anything about Canola?
Olive oil would be the best but it isn’t the best for cooking. A mixture of olive oil + canola or olive oil + vegetable oil should work.
