Maybe your besan is too old or maybe something is wrong with besan. Oh and my mom never puts milk in besan halwa, she always puts water. So manybe subsitute milk with water.

Lusi, I thought there was a problem with besan too, but i’ve tried several times with different brands. I’ve thrown out 2 full packs of Besan already thinking they had gone bad.

hayaa, he mentioned a halwa meet. I say we take advantage of that if he comes.

CB, try subsituting milk with water, once I made basen ka halwa and added milk thinking it would make it rich n stuff but it turned out kind of like yours. So mom said it is better to add water. Also are you using enough oil?

i once wasnt even cooking, and suddenly lo - i'd made perfect besan halwa. i guess these things just take innate talent and skill. some people are simply better, and others are make decent dish-washers.

it really is a shame there are no other elite cooks on gupshup. here are my tips, carebear.

if possible, get coarser ground besan.
roast the besan longer, at low heat.
don't cook too long once you've added milk/water.
recite "queer rocks" 27 times before you start.

that should do it.

I think you are putting too much milk in the halwa, try first half a cup of milk.
