Controversial book banned by Modi government

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

My point was that your talking about something completely different from what he is. He is talking about 1947, you are talking about you interaction with Muslims today.

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

and on top of that he kept on saying that PD never gave me any data! as if I never gave reference to well-documented election results of 1946 to show the voting pattern of muslims of 1947!!! now that is a hard core solid quantataive data, which can be easily verified....league won roughly 88% of its seats and to vote for muslim league in those election meant just one thing!!! anyway, i am sure player is going to come back and say "but PD never gave me any data..and i cant trust his freaking opinion"

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

No, I am talking about 1947 as well as today. And in case you did not notice, PD did not provide any data to back up his claim about 1947.

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

LOL...well, I disagree. 87.2% of the Muslims who remained in India wanted to stay there. Only 12.8% wanted to move to Pak but were unable to. And of the Muslims who moved to Pak, 71.86% wanted to stay on in India but were forced to go. Only 28.14% actually wanted to move.

See, two can play that game ;)

Anyways, we have digressed enough from the topic and looks like you do not want to respond directly and just want to go around in circles. So lets end this charade of a debate :)

If you can't answer a man's arguements, all is not lost; you can still create fake data to make your point - Phoenixdesi

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

This thread was supposed to be about the book.

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

Didnt you already agree that many Muslims, perhaps even the majority in 1947, only stayed in India because they were compelled to by circumstance and not by choice? So whats this debate about?

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

just like many muslims who became part of Pakistan only because circumstance.

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

So you interject this little bit for what purpose?
Im sure there were those that didn't want Partition even among the Muslims, but this isn't about Pakistan, its about the Muslims who stayed in India.

I don't know why you Indians have such difficulty staying on topic.

FYI Your statement goes without saying. Most sane people, including Jinnah, wanted to avoid partition. They tried to avoid complete partition, since the objective was to ensure equal political rights for the Muslim minority within India. The only reason Pakistan was created, was because this objective could not be met, and complete partition became inevitable. So they had to demand for Pakistan not because they simply wanted to split India in two, but because they were compelled to do so by the fact that Muslim minority rights could not be guaranteed.

Re: Controversial book banned by Modi government

It would help to read the posts sequentially in order to understand what the debate is about...

The debate is because I disagree with PD's asserstion that*a majority of Muslims who stayed back in India in 1947 wanted to move to Pakistan, but were unable to do so.* I had asked PD to provide data to support this assertion which he did not/was unable to.

My POV is that while most of those who wanted to move, did in fact move. There might be some that wanted to move but could not but that number was certainly not a majority of the Indian muslim population in 1947.
