dont know if this topic has already been done, but i was wondering. There are 7 or 8 obvious contradictions in the Quran..is this to test our faith?
A Book that proclaims it's devoid of contradictions cannot contain even a single one..
Kindly do share with us the 'contradictions' you talk about.
i've never heard this before... what contradictions ?

Quran is the word of Allah! It is perfect and itself a miracle! It is free of contradictions!!!!
is man a blood clot or is he made of dust?
Aishaaaaaaa, this is not a contradiction....related to ur example, there are three things that have been mentioned in Quran in 3 different places:
1) Man was created from semen
2) Man was created from dust
3) Man was created from water
(See exact references below)
Now that doesn't mean that it is a contradiction....let me ask u a question....if u make tea, u use water, teabag and sugar in it...now if i tell u that this tea is made of sugar, will it be wrong....or if i say it is made of water, is it wrong....no, they just complement each other....
and it is proven by medical science today that man indeed is composition of dust and water and is created by the combination of semen and ovum...
"Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)"?
[Al-Qur’an 75:37]
"(Consider) that We created you out of dust".
[Al-Qur’an 22:5]
"It is He Who has created man from water".
[Al-Qur’an 25:54]

Blood clots and dust, just like the cells of the human body, are made up largely of carbon. So I don't see the contradiction at all.
aishaa1, what other " contradictions" do you think there is. You said there is 6 or 7. I regard what you say as complete nonsense but then again ur entitled to your opinion. Next time think before you speak. I think maybe because you live in the west u r easily influenced by the kuffar.

As opposed to the people in the pious east. All of whom are both believers and good muslims.
Muslims in the east dont say stuff like what aishaa just said. Its because western culture and values( adultery, fornication etc) are influencing people like aishaa.
People in the east are no angels but they know their limits when it comes to saying stuff about islam. They are not blasphemous as americanised ppl like aishaa.
Well said. All "westerners" must repent for all their sins and instantly move to the east. It's the only way.
malibu man : Corrupt and sold-out regimes of the east play a huge part in the way islam and muslim are looked at by the west. The east was ready to sell their souls and the west was there to buy. Also, not to mention our levels of emaan are at all time lows - Isn't it apparent from this thread ?

Many different types of dust, with many different compositions. The dust in your house is mainly dead skin cells, yet the stuff on the streets is a product of the bedrock or surfacing aggregate.
On the whole the rocks of the Earths surface boiled down to the most common element would be silicon in silicates.
Aishaaa1's perceived contradiction is actually nothing more than attempting to name a rainbow based on one hue.
Afterall everything in the universe is essentially composed of the same atoms in different combinations.
thats true zman but im just saying that muslims in the west are more critical of islam because of the immoral society they live within. Do you think its easy to hang onto religion in a society where gay marriages are accepted as normal and where fornication is the norm.
blood does not have movement if you put blood in petri dish it wont move on the other hand
sperm has motility. clott means it is aggregate of blood cells and platleletts that causes blockage of blood vessels. sperms dont clott
if it clotts it wont be able t o move and penetrate egg of women.
.
by mixing science and religen you are making both very simplistic
Malibu
It is exactly because of people with your thinking that Islamic civilisation went from being the most advanced in the world to the most weakest today. As soon as you stop asking questions, no matter how difficult or contradictory they may seem , you stop the quest to advance knowledge and understanding. We are repeatedly being reminded of how the quest for knowledge / wisdom is so precious is Islam, and yet when someone poses a serious question you put them down with derogatory remarks about their persona and where they live, as if. somehow, your own environment makes you a better muslim.
Aishaa - well done - keep asking difficult questions. There are many Malibu's in this world who would rather brush things they don't understand under the carpet, and instead accuse your wayward thinking on your 'western' influence. Actually, I think the more exposure you have to different societies the better person you become all round - unlike the Malibu's who feel cosy in their version of a muslim society (just look where that has got them !)
think before i speak? dont get irritated, i was just asking a question. If peace is such a large factor in Islam (one of the biggest, actually), then why is Jihaad (bloodshed) a fard?
i just have the ability to question my religion, knowing that my faith will remain as it is. The west has done nothing but EXPAND my mind, im not as close minded as the rest of u. The whole world uses this against us, explain it to them.
read about jihaad, when n y 1 should go on or do jihaad...u'l know why its fard then,k?
edited somin tht dint sound 2 good
Pls. ignore comments by punjabi_kuri and many like her who themself have been deluded into thinking that jihad means fighting.. not their fault..they grew up as 'orthodox Muslims'.
Jihad 'struggle' is different from Qital 'fighting/killing' .
Fighting in the way of Allah is prescribed to counter oppression. It's retaliatory and commanded in proportion to the amount of aggression faced.
