at the risk of sounding stupid i ask this question: Aren't we forgetting the larger population? Those who don't do this kinda sick stuff? I think if we compare the numbers, evil-doers (as disscussed in this thread) are far less than those who are honest and Allah-fearing.
I can't say it about anyone of you, but all the ppl I have met in my life, there have been always 1 or 2 out of ten of us who will stare at girls or give rude comments.. all it takes is a little courage to tell them to shutup ..

Shikra, I'm glad I dont have to hear this crap. Even here, I was kinda sheltered in HS and the stories my friends told me, OMG, I can't believe cud happen. But i'm just so sick of how ppl think us American/Western pakis are messed up or slutty or any of that crap.

Oh and may I add: I went to net cafes to log on to gupshup and check my email at about 3 locations. 8 out of 10 sites that were visited were porn sites. I asked one of the owners why they don't put filter on or parental control and they said if they do so, they'll run out of business as this is what their customers want!

its really rather simple, living in westrern countries more options are available to teenagers and adults. They are free of social pressure that lingers back home. They are free to make choices and all. As it keeps propping up on this forum freedom of choice.If the individuals are strongly connected to religion then the society plays little part in their behaviour if they arent they can make mistakes. More temptation here too.I think it is for this reason that islamically its encouraged for people to be involved in tableegh and venture in non muslim countries. Otherwise its a rocky road.

Its nice to see all virgins living in the corrupt west opine on this non-issue. What people do with their lives is their business. There should be more avenues like dating, social dancing, theatre(not moviehouse), hell even a bar, and you will see less anger, frustration, and drugs etc.

Aansoon - I still disagree. Most people are NOT good in their behavior. They may start out with the right intentions, but somehow too many of them end up on wrong paths.
Besides, what makes you think the people you know are a representative sample of the population? How sure are you that you KNOW the people you do?
