Content Management - Which one

Hi,

I’m setting up a website for a cousin. Its going to be like placement agency sorta thing. I wanted to find out which CMS system to go with. THe choices are Joomla, Mambo and PHP-Nuke. There are others, but i don’t want to go too crazy.

I have setup each one of these CMS apps before but this situation is a little different. What I wanted to find out is:

  • which one would give me a foolproof site for a layman that they can update
  • Which gives me the most amount of editibility as far as templates is concerned

I was going to get one of those templates for sale, but not sure about it. Here’s a sample website that i might copy:

All help would be appreciated.

Re: Content Management - Which one

Stay away from php-nuke... mambo is a dying breed.

That leaves Joomla... plenty of templates and customization to work with along with solid administration options.

Re: Content Management - Which one

your first q, cms
offcourse joomla is best, because mambo is no more and phpNuke is not that populer
I knew another simple asp.net based CMS (Dotnetnuke) but it is not that populer like joomla, but it is easier for end-user.

about template.

There are hundreds of free templates available online, why don’t you get that?

I can create a joomla template, but first thing

  • it will take a lot of time and it will be painful when I will not get paid
  • may be it will not be of your choice, because I can’t show you the preview first

so my idea, go to some site and download any template with preview

I dont know you will like to take an illegal one or not

But I have hundreds of templates downloaded, that are illegal

I can recomend you 1 site

check out this free template, I hope you will like it.

would you like to share the links here

but developement is a big headache, better to get a pre-designed one, I recommend joomla and I can support anyone who want help regarding joomla

Re: Content Management - Which one

Thanks for all the info MY4, I'll check out the link. In the meantime I have installed a template and working on getting it modded.
