Considering wearing an American bridal gown

I thought the decor and cake were never supposed to match the bride???

Gorgeous! Thanks!

This is nice.

Love it!!!

You guys are so helpful!

Can you ladies think of anyway I can incorporate the top part of this design into a mermaid lengha? I’m talking about the forming fitting ruching (the chunteh/wrinkled material) from the chest down, with a square neck. The mermaid lengha starting a little past the hips (similar to this pic) and than lots of kaam on the lengha skirt, and a little bit of kaam on the neck border and sleeves border.

Do you think this can work? Do you ladies have any examples of this?

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

^ I don’t see why not! But you’d have to choose the right material and go to a really skilled seamstress to get the ruching just right so its not lumpy. I’d think chiffon would do it with silk lining.

I’d also keep any kaam you choose tone on tone or just a shade of silver or dull gold. I’d not do a lot of beads and different kids of kaam either. The beauty in the ruching will get lost if there’s too much kaam happening on the outfit.

I’d do a bit of kaam on the edges of the daaman at front and back of the shirt, up the chaakein, around the neckline and the sleeves with really thin piping in either metallic silver or gold. Then I’d do the kaam all over the lehenga. And maybe pair it with a gorgeous lace-edged chiffon dupatta? Similar in look to a Spanish mantilla- http://pics.boards.weddingbee.com/846.veil.jpg These two are also gorgeous- Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: Mantilla

In your lehenga portion, aim for a few layers of silk, like in the above picture- it gives it such depth and looks beautiful. The kaam would be on the top most chiffon layer, then maybe two more layers of chiffon under that and silk at the base.

I dont have any....I do remember seeing some pics on the bridal pic thread...I'll try to look for them and post them for you

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

*I actually have a white gown but it's for older women so it doesn't look good on me. Is it possible to like go trade it in or something lol? DB that's actually a very good idea. I still want a traditional lehnga at my barat but the valima is a good idea. *

Thanks! I love the pix you posted. I might just end up going with a mermaid style lengha, in cream or peach. I will keep the kaam silver

Thanks.

I dont think you will get much for it if you trade it lol. Your best bet would be putting it up on ebay, even than I think the most you will get for it is $200- $500, if your lucky.

any luc???

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

^ yeah, I'd love to see what you decided on.

Re: Considering wearing an American bridal gown

have you decided what you are going to do? I had the same idea in mind.. and to incorporate the same work on the dress and dupatta so the dupatta would blend in. I haven't seen this done before so I'm quite nervous about how the end product will look. I guess the good thing is that I get to design the dress,..but I really hope the dupatta goes well with the dress!
