I dont like it unless your doing a complete gorafied walima ie garden wedding, white pink flowers everywhere, no asian twist to the weddng then it will work and be nice!
I dont think the two will collaborate well if you want best of both worlds. I just dont see it working.
Okie I completely understand what you are saying, I have it all worked out, but I cannot explain it quite yet, because I have everything planned in my head, but not confirmed. So ladies, give me about two weeks and I will explain it to you, and let me know your opinion after that.
Really DB?? A western bridal gown? The dresses in those picture are stunning but I agree with DF about that. Are you going to be purchasing the dress from a white bridal shop or will you be recreating it from back home? Even with the lace and gorgeous details that white gowns have, what about all the kaam and heavy details that go onto our clothes. I just think that its to western and maybe thats just me but I don’t see it working either unless your groom is non-Pakistani and half of your crowd will not be either. I don’t know, I don’t see it mixing well either.
Are you going to have a dupatta made for it? or a veil?
Same thing. I will explain it to you after I get some stuff sorted out.
I will be wearing long veil, my crowd is mixed. Half are Pakistani, and my half are Americanized Pakistani that are used to seeing this, and about one forth of my half are American.
The dress that I have tried is gorgeous!!! It definitely does not need kaam!!! I will try to find a pic of it. But im not sure If I am going to go with that, because it’s MAD expensive!!!

I would have to agree with you - in my mind, sleeves would look better with a dress that is more form fitting and less poofy at the bottom. I like the dress that your fiance chose - but I like the dresses that you were liking even better. But I think the main thing is that all of these dresses are similar in style in regards to their cut… they are fitted on top and throughout the body and them flare out (or pouf out). Its a very flattering style. I think a princess style ball gown might be a little over the top - But check out Nilofer Shahid’s Western Gown in her Noor Jehan Josephine Collection of '09. But as I said earlier - I think you are right that sleeves will look better with a more fitted style of dress.
And yes - cover ups are really blah and not the biggest fan of adding sleeves of lace either (especially if there is no other lace found on the dress). Adding actual sleeves made of the same material of the dress will make it look more cohesive and elegant.
My mom is an excellent seamstress mA and sewed my prom dress her self … but the style of the dress was similar to what you like and she obviously sewed the dress so that it had sleeves on it. It looked amazingly elegant and to this day (prom was over a decade ago. lol) people still ask my mom and me from time to time to show them the dress because it came out so beautiful
