anyways, i personally cannot remember a single time i was scared with those made up characters… i mean i have younger siblings but i dont think my parents ever used these tricks 
waise this kid i know learnt the “f” word from pre-school, when his mum heard it she scared him by saying “kal tum sou ke utho ge na tou tumhari zabaan dheir saarey tukrhouN meiN tooti hue parhi ho gi…”
