Congress is the only mainstream party apart from BJP, there are many other regional party. the biggest state with muslim population is Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Muslims even though appear as an entity are most divided from with in. In UP, they vote either for either Yadav dominated Samajwadi Party of Mulayam or Shudra dominated Bahujan Samajwadi Party of Mayawati, Mayawati in last election got vote of Brahmins. secondly I even found Shia's voting for BJP in Kanpur during last election in UP ( I was living as tenant in the house of Shia Sayyids in kanpur)
In Bihar they supported developmental woks done by Nitish who is thoroughly secular. He is CM of Bihar and partner with BJP. In some constituencies only BJP fielded its candidates, and muslim voted for BJP just to see Nitish as CM.
Whether congress recent policy of appeasement works or not, UP elections would prove something in this regard. This UP election would bring many new things as well.
Interesting. PM Manmohan Singh's yesterday's statement that the problems of UP are due to 22 year's non-Congress rule shows how Congress eagerly want to exploit the Muslim votes.

Let us assume that Batla house encounter was fake so was the encounter of maoist Kishenji and Azad, but Batla which is less likely to be a fake than Maoist’s encounters is simply used to exploit emotions of muslims for political gains. the public of UP and Bihar is more shrewd than their politicians. Yesterday’s statement has no value even, In UP one have to have caste/religion-region equation properly, election of UP is not much different than the politics India plays in power corridors of International politics:D
Other Backward Class(OBC)'s have 27 percent quota in government posts except defense forces. Just to woo votes they promised sub-quota with of 9% in this 27% for muslims, election commission, an independent constitutional body, headed by SY Qureishi took notice and claimed that these type of promises destroys the level playing field and issued contempt to the congress leaders.
From this I remember one thing. Whats the story behind Shabana Azmi not getting a flat in Mumbai just because of her being Muslim? I remember Javed Akhtar giving interview to a Pakistani channel had something opposite to this news.

Thats the main point where suffering of the common men start. Both the countries have been indulged in conflicts since inception. Both the countries are so called atomic powers and public of both the countries have no access to basic necessities of life like clean water, proper drainage system which lead to diseases like Dengue, etc.
I was reading Dr Sher Shah Syed's (famous gynecologist of Pakistan) book, where he covered stories of Pakistani women suffering from fistula due to mishandling while giving birth to babies. The women suffer a lot and denounced by their relatives, just because they don't have access to hospitals which provide treatment of this curable disease.
Our karta dhartas are happy and proud of the explosions at Chaghi and Pokhran, but don't feel ashamed for denial of basic necessities to the public.
The onus lies on us, while corruption in sub continent is social problem we common people make it institutional problem. Changing of rulers from same social stock is not going to change anything. Similarly placing the right demands would make authority to do the right thing. Indian Punjab has the best roads just because Punjabis want there Lamborghini that they have bought to run on right roads, Gujratis would have been what they are with or without Modi, of course, Modi's governance is exceptional as well.
The main thing this sub-continent has to decide whether we want brand leaders like Gandhis and Bhuttos or we need mass leaders like Imran Khan or Hazare. it is natural for mass leader like Jinnah and Kemal Ataturk to do good for their people not the brand leaders who just want to make money. Two democracies have hardly fought any war in the world, had their been true democracy Pakistan wouldn't have got dismembered and Naxals wouldn't have felt left out and we wouldn't have fought. We people take too much of care about cricket world cup while Mosquitoes do Bhangra over our head. Our pet dogs defecate on roads and we turn towards government to clean it.
Look at mllitary, their cantonments are always super clean because they have institutionalized themselves, no one misses his/her part of duty of maintaining there area. While civilian population envy them but can't think like being organized like them and blame the politicians who grew up in the same society, It is always social change that bring change in style of governance not vice versa.
The common people are as responsible to their conditions as their elected politicians. Public have no accountability sense either for their deeds or the performances of governments. Any emotional slogan can make people forget their sufferings and they become fool again & again by same parties and slogans.
