Reread the paragraph in the first post from the view point of a “newly arranged marriage”.

Okay with working but family is a priority. Working is fine but we should spend time with each other.** Maybe its the way the OP has worded but there is more to it then that.

I’ve heard my own dad say this but he’s 100% fine with my mum working (even encouraged her)..

I don’t think it’s that unusual a phrase or there’s anything more to the wording..
