Oh come off it, you really have a vendetta against desi society don't you? While I agree there is some discrimination in terms of weird looks from staff etc, it usually has to do with the way you dress and talk and not with your colour.
I am just trying to show our hypocrisy. We say something else because it sounds liberal but practice something else.
I will say this based upon personal experience in pakistan and most of you with darker skin would have experienced this as well, that you do not get treated as well at big hotels, clubs, restaurants etc, if you have darker skin than average, with the waiters and other staff thinking that somehow you do not belong here. Even amongst the crowd at these places, you would get strange stares from people wondering if you really have a membership or just sneaked in. I won't mention the name of the club in Karachi but will just say it is in DHA close to the sea. If you invite any guests to the club, who do not look like the average members of the club, that is they are darker than average, they can expect more security and questioning, even the staff checking with the member if you have invited any guests.
I am not sure if we live in the same Pakistan, cuz there is a huge majority of men with darker skin tone in our country... they are politicians, bureaucrats, lawyers... they are treated as important people according to their posts, work, wealth but not color... in fact this is the first time I've heard of something like this.
Like if desi girls are looking for a prospective 'dulha'... does the complexion of the guy matter at all or not?
Like lets say if girl is fair or something......would she go for dark wheatish/ or dark complexioned guy??
Put yourself in the situation and then reply plz..
Technically it should matter considering a lot of guys usually look for a fair girl. Personally speaking I wouldn't want to marry someone who's too dark as i'm quite light skinned and my extended family would be the first ones to pick on that. Another reason would be the former statement I made.
It's quite obvious we put a premium on lower melanin individuals, so it would make sense to consolidate this trait genetically in future generations by marrying as fair as possible.
