compare yourselfs to others..??

I know southafricans, nigerians, and people of other backgrounds, who despite whats happening in their countries, ( alot of violence, kidnapping, murder, etc, alot of cities are unsafe) they wouldnt be heard dead talking ill of their own countries…no one has ever said oh i hate south africa etc or i would never go there…they still speak highly and love their country and so many of my ex work coleagues, had really good jobs, yet wanted to go back, and some did…

my point here is…why do us pakistanis speak ill of pakistan, you would never hear an indian speaking badly, despite anything happening there, yet we openly hate our country, laugh/taunt at anyone who wants to go there, and THEN we have the audacity to get all defensive if an indian says anything to us…all indians as far ive known, love their country, they know the state certains a reas are in, yet are compassionate…

we really are a pathtic bunch…no?

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

No we are not. It's just that we are too emotional of people and we say things often which we don't mean. We are not very articulate or way our words before spitting them out. That's the trouble.

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

Same applies to 'our people' too.........why do we diss ourselves all the time?? thats a question to you directly......this thread is to diss our own people...why that?

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

I swear to God other day I heard a pakistani girl asking ppl to list advantages of living in pakistan,

I mean who does that??

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

lol monk

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

We are taught to speak the truth no matter how much it hurts anybody. So we see problems with our beloved country and speak against them. Speaking against the bad and the ugly of the country does not make you unpatriotic. If it was not true what people talk about , like electricity problem , jihalat , corrupt politicians and bureaucracy, corrupt police , mahnga-e , bimari , pollution etc etc then it will be unpatriotic and evil.
See whenever someone non Pakistani talks ill about our country then we all gang up on that person. Don't we ? You said that too.

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

That's not accurate. I've seen many counter examples to your statement.

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

One of the main problems it Pakistan's actually going backwards. Nothing works here. A Indian living on the street can think about having a house someday, he knows his country is moving forward rapidly. But a poor Pakistani doesn't see any hoe... :(

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

It was that in my mind but I could not give words to it. You did a great job at saying it . :k:

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

That's NOT true. You say that base on what you see of india thru their rose tinted movies. If you go there and see their real situation up close you wouldnt be saying this.

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

Um...in Pakistan I saw and heard about plenty of Nigerians moving to Pak.

Not that it really has anything to do with anything, I just thought it was cool.

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

I don't watch bollywood movies. Never have.

I'm part of a business family, grew up in a business environment and money and economy are a constant topic of discussion in our household. So my knowledge, although not perfect isn't so weak either.

India is becoming a global power. Their per capita income has doubled in the last 7 years and their growth rate is around 9%. Their economy is the 4th largest by Purchasing power parity.

Pakistan is barely trudging along with 4% is real GDP growth. Go figure.

Re: compare yourselfs to others..??

Well despite whatever bad goes on in Pakistani, most Pakistanis still don't blast Pakistan in front of outsiders. Whatever criticism you are talking about mainly happens within the community, Indians when sit down with Indians do share their concerns and anger about issues related to India, just like we Pakistanis do. However, I do believe that Indians don't have our victim mentality. They don't think everyone is out there to get them.
