Company's Coming :-)

I’m soooo happy
I’m going to have visitors from Pakistan soon , InshaAllah
apart from all day dreaming …what else can i do until then …???

actually both young ladies plan to do some ‘sayr-sapata’ too …n sure I’ll be their guide …but at the same time i’ll have to manage my kitchen too …n it would be great if i can pile up some stuff in my freezer beforehand …so that i can enjoy their visit n can give them company as much as possible

so i think i need to store
shami kababs
seekh kababs
hunter’s beef
vege rolls
samosas
bhallay n phulkiaan (for dehi bhallay)
some half prepared things like
gosht(for biryani)
gosht for haleem

now tell me what else…!!!

I’ll appreciate your help
thanx in advance :flower1:

Why is "FOOD" the main source of desi entertainment. Why can't for once in your life put eating on the side and just have some sair sappaatta. You can always eat out too. Free yourself from this everyday cooking. Eat out and have a ball. And if they wana eat at home, let them help you make stuff for you. This way you will taste food cooked by different hands.

Afia: Its good that you are planning ahead. You have so much on your menu already. I am sure they will help you out with cooking. So my advice if you have that much in your freezer already, just relax & enjoy life out of the kitchen :)

funguy…i don’t know why food is main source of desi entertainment …n is it really so or not
all i know is i love to cook myself…n even if i don’t you can hardly find a halal outlet at my place …

n i know my guests too …will prefer all kind of desi ‘junk’ rather than proper meals :hehe:

n nah …they do cook at their place …what would be the difference if they start doing it here too …so share the ideas/ tips

OK OK, I may have come down a bit too hard in my previuos post. :flower2:

Well, they have been eating Pakistani food all their lives. WHy not introduce them to local cuisine. Make some Lasagna, Pasta salads, Meatloaf and gravy, Hot wings, Hamburgers, and Chicken Fried Steaks. They are all easy to make too.

roshnie ....:)
thanx for your input :)

i'm just hoping i'll be able to have 'that much' in my freezer :)

i'm sooo looking forward to have them here :)

by the way i forgot to add cakes n cookies in my list .....

so tell me next ...:)

well, funguy …actually i don’t want to make them feel my experimental rats :hehe:

i don’t think i’m bold enough to try new stuff for my guests …

but well …you have a point there …i can try these things before they r here …

great …so keep the ideas coming …I’m all ear

Dear Afia : May be somehow I should get myself invited to you house  Sounds like a real treat  I do understand why you are thinking of desi food only because somethimes people would not eat anything else. I once had some guests who did not eat anything but desi yani bhunna howa ghost etc etc A few times I made stuff like pasta, meat loaf etc & I myself was ashamed afterwards because they did not eat. Infact one of them asked me for bread & fried egg  Just imagine what I felt

They are not coiming to my house again

^
hahaha ....roshnie ...u r welcome :)

yes you are right ...many times ppl won't eat or even taste new things

but well ...these two guests of mine can eat everything (i think) as long as it is spicy n 'chattpati'

these r not bhuna hua gosht type ....more of 'gol guppa' n stuff type

I agree with you Funguy, whenever I have guest at times we go out or I make ALL sorts of different foods. That way it shows a little bit of my own personality how Mutlit cultured I am. I always serve all sorts of dishes, side dishes and all.

Funguy wish I can invite you over

Majestic, cut out the wishful thinking and send out the invite. Like I said, you are only across the pond from me.

Whole list is full of yummy food dishes but one question, are you gonna serve them meat everyday? I hope you add some veggie dishes too! :) I'm in a hurry right now but will add to your list as soon as I getta chance. InshAllah!

CurruptAngel :)
hehe...yes you can say i'm gonnaserve them meat everyday ...coz my list indicates so ...
but actually no ....these are the things i want to have in my freezer beforehand ....but definitely i'll have more to prepare everyday once they r here
piling up in freezer is for things which take more time if i try to make them everyday ....but stuff like halwa puri or gol guppay etc. ....i would like to prepare same day n not beforehand :)

n for veggies ,....dunno why but i don't like to freeze them ....usually i buy 'em fresh when i want to cook ....:)
but well i've made lots of garlic paste n chopped ginger....already in my freezer.....so i can save enough time :)

so now don't forget to add to my list ....i've only 15-20 days to go .... :)

waiting

in my family..the only things ammi ever freeze is shami kabab, chicken and potato kabab, chapli kabab, samosa and rolls..she likes to cook fresh..so i am not sure what else you can freeze..

i am not sure if you can freeze them or not..koftay, pasanday with masala (and cook them later).. personally i would never freeze vegetables coz woh paseej jati hayn.

Of course everyone cooks fresh mostly everyday. However, with samosa's if I have company coming or anything I would like to make some and freeze them, that way when they do come I can just fry them. B/c man they take up sooooooo damn much time uffffff :D

Oops..

Afia I didn't read your initial post clearly before and I thought that you want ideas on what to cook for your guests...:o..lol..Well you're right vegetables should always be cooked fresh. You know what, I never like to freeze meat stuff in freezer either...I think it becomes "baasi" after one or two days..:D...Everything I cook has to be fresh be it meat chicken or vegetables.:-) But yeah, if I were to cook that many things for my guests then I'd sure need to freeze the meat beforehand. :)Afia, I think your list is long enough coz I can't think of anything else.

What about meetha?? My mom bakes yummy cakes and she also makes egg custard(my favorite) a day or two before the guests arrive!

thanx all :)

Qrius you r right about vegetables ...thats why i didn't mention 'em :)
n yeah koftay ....i can freeze them ....thanx you reminded me :)

Maj....you r right about samosas .....actually me too prefer everything fresh ....but these guests r gonna stay with me for a month or so ....so i need to prepare a bit before hand so that they don't feel that i literally live in my kitchen only :D

CA....yes i thought about meetha ....but its not a time consuming job for most of sweet dishes ...as for cakes n cookies....yes i was planning to prepare some ....thanx for your idea though :)

Afia mix and match the food. Give them a taste of other culturals, its always soo great. I always have and make all sorts of different foods, deserts and so on to make my guest say WOW and make them have a good time.

Also you don't want to be sending the whole time in the ketchen while your quests sit without you. So indeed it is always better to be perpared.

Afia: tu taayaari kahaan tak punchi? Tell me what in the freezer now :yummy:
