ah ok. What about adaab? does anyone use that much anymore in Urdu?
in Lakhnauwii tahzeeb, men always said "aadaab" to women for some odd reasons. nawaabs used this form of salutation extensively but this practice is dying down fast due to general awareness among Muslims. i personally hated this word because why would anyone in his/her right mind will exclude women from Allah's blessings [salaam means peace].
another word was also used and that was "tasleem/tasleemaat" tasleemaat is the plural of tasleem. :)
I thought Allah was God only in the Arabic language. Don't Jews worship Yahweh? Christianity for all its ME roots, only gained momentum after Constantine came to power. So they probably had some ancient Latin word depicting God in the earliest versions of their scripture. Look at how muslims say Allah for God irrespective of the region they come from because that is the way in their holy book. It is not the same for jews and Christians
If you read Jewish scripture (Old testament) you will find similar words, as far as Bible is concerned many changes (different versions like King James version) have been made and its available in different translations (for us it would be English). Quran is there as is, in the same language it was revealed in thats why the words are the same even after centuries. Translations of Quran are used in conjunction with the Arabic text to understand it. In any case the root of all Abrahmic religions is the same.
