Common words for God

Every Language got some common words for God, which are used by followers of all the religions living in that particular area and culture. There is a word ‘Dhani’ in Sindhi which means Master (Malik- another word for God in many languages). These common words are used in Sindhi literature and school syllabus.

A Hamd included in class 1 Sindhi was ‘Geet Dhani ja gadhji gayoon - Lets sings songs in praise of God together’, which is sung by every children from all the religions (There were many Hindus in our school).

Allah, khuda, Bhagwan, Ishwar and Ooper wala etc

Although Bhagwan is common word, but it is not used by all the religions. Ooper wala is used by all. Khuda has persian links, so rooted out (tried to rooted out) from society.

Yes Bhagwan and Ishwar are not used in all religions. Hindus use them to point towards God.

most Indian Muslims used to say "Khudaa Haafiz" while most Pakistanis used to say "Allah Haafiz"...

...now, Indians Muslims have started saying "Allah Haafiz"

Even in Pakistan it's a recent phenomena, I remember saying khuda hafiz in my childhood. The transformation from khuda hafiz to Allah hafiz has taken around two decades.

Its Arabic common word for God. Even used in Quran (in meaning of Wali)

Rab is used by Sikhs as well. To be specific (not only Sikhs), but also most of people in Punjab

haN..."Rabb Rakkhaa" is used for Khudaa Haafiz :)

Hindi substitute of Rub is Paalanhaar, which is also used in other languages including Sindhi.

Rab Raakha and Khuda hafiz have been common since long, after the Islamization in the wake of Zia's martial law things started changing. When some one would say khuda hafiz the other guy would correct him that its Allah hafiz. Now its all Allah hafiz, I dont know how long ago I heard khuda hafiz.

yeah...but technically, Allah Haafiz is better and i prefer that.

Firsst time I came across Allah Hafiz was here. Khuda Hafiz is what I am familiar with as to what a Muslim would say while departing. Has a nice ring to it.
