Although Bhagwan is common word, but it is not used by all the religions. Ooper wala is used by all. Khuda has persian links, so rooted out (tried to rooted out) from society.
Even in Pakistan it’s a recent phenomena, I remember saying khuda hafiz in my childhood. The transformation from khuda hafiz to Allah hafiz has taken around two decades.
Rab Raakha and Khuda hafiz have been common since long, after the Islamization in the wake of Zia’s martial law things started changing. When some one would say khuda hafiz the other guy would correct him that its Allah hafiz. Now its all Allah hafiz, I dont know how long ago I heard khuda hafiz.
Firsst time I came across Allah Hafiz was here. Khuda Hafiz is what I am familiar with as to what a Muslim would say while departing. Has a nice ring to it.
