in Lakhnauwii tahzeeb, men always said “aadaab” to women for some odd reasons. nawaabs used this form of salutation extensively but this practice is dying down fast due to general awareness among Muslims. i personally hated this word because why would anyone in his/her right mind will exclude women from Allah’s blessings [salaam means peace].
another word was also used and that was “tasleem/tasleemaat” tasleemaat is the plural of tasleem.
