Common sense check for post editing?

So I just had my post edited which doesn’t happen very often and I don’t mind even this edit a whole lot. It’s just that the mods are going crazy with their editing abilities. I posted the following:

what the ****?

and the mod replaced the stars with the word edit. I’m editing my own post. Why is there a need for the mod to edit the edited words? What did she think I was saying? Is there only one english word with four letters? LOL

I see plenty of sexual innuendos and distasteful words in life1 from certain members. By all means edit the posts but do use some common sense. Thanks much.

Agree wholeheartedly. I was going to start a thread on it if it is not rectified. But then I saw your thread and checked it is not rectified yet.

There is an an ***** mod who did this to my post also. Left arse and buttcheeks alone and edited stars. :no:

P.S1. The stars do not mean anything “by themselves” and no one can claim to be what they are. Hence only stars.

P.S2. “Mod gone wild” is new theme again after few months.

it does apply equally, though many times missed by the mods.

I will remind the mods to be more attentive about such stuff.

Few times a reported post does slip through the cracks. We are fixing that not to happen.

again where is the common sense in all this? If I used f*** or h*** then yeah censor it but how is **** offensive? And how does replacing **** with edit restore forum decency?

Nomi has a point. There are many occurances of 'fu**** up' being used by a few members and mods have been happily responding in those threads without any editing. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't edit. All I'm saying is that use some common sense when editing.

I need to apologize to chacha_Ghalib first.

I do not mean to take over the thread chacha started and do not like members posting in feedback type of forums to derail the thread.

Not only I loved the title and 100% agree with the idea, I feel I am in the same boat at he is/was. Hence posting here instead of starting similar thread.

There is absolutely no disrespect to ANY mod in my above post. Prove it, I dare you.

Go ahead, make up the words from stars I placed deliberately, then anyone who ‘assumes’ will be the one should be responsible. Not me.

Take home message here is:

**I am not responsible for anyone reading the stars the way the person likes or ‘assumes’ to read. Stars do not mean anything.

I am only responsible for what I write, not for someone to assume otherwise from typing stars or blanks.

Written means, using a word consisting of a letter which someone can read.

4- Just as you said in other thread, there is no conspiracy in admin team, there was no ill-intention in my post. The team should have confidence in members who have a track record.

5- Coming to the post I objected to being editing, I saw utter discrepancy in judgment.

CDDG the mod still cannot explain why two other offensive word used in a post which had nothing to with the thread theme was appropriate to be left alone.
