what is comfort food? I am little confused with the concept

Foods that have a nostalgic element related to them. Foods that are therapeutic for one. Foods that make your insides go all positive!

I think it's all psychological for us. But this concept does work for people. Like for me, no matter how bad a day I have or how low I am or how depressed I am.. french fries make me feel better. :(

Low on what? You mean when I am feeling down? I dont feel hungry if I am sad or depressed.

I always though that comfort food is that you are munching on while sitting comfortably on your leather couch, watching a movie or something :(

But this is a western concept then. I dont remember people eating food when they were sad or depressed, back home.

Umm yeah you can say that. It’s a fairly modern and western concept.

But there are desi foods that have nostalgic elements related to them. Like in my family, stressful days end with halwa. Always. It’s supposed to make us happy according to my grand mother. :hehe:

a punjabi style dahibara chana chaat, simple pasta in a nice re sauce, pulao with raita, fresh fries with ketchup, a simple pizza with thin crust and a nice sauce, a good bowl of mac n cheese....

Has to be pasta with chicken. And loads of chocolate and cakes ..

Actually many scientific studies have suggested that consumption of “comfort food” is trigged in men by positive emotion and in women by negative.
Comfort food can be related to nostalgia like amma kay haath kay parathay or indulgence like samosay (Lip smacking).
