Ok so I have an unhealthy obsession with emeralds as of late. so much that I have convinced my friend that if she is to get married it has to be in an antique gold set with emerald in it with no compromise. She is willing to go without the dulha but no the emerald set now, thanks to my convincing and pretty picture painting powers So now the bigger question is, what coloured outfit will look great with such a set? This is a bridal dress by the way. I don’t see dark green being worn on the wedding day. I was thinking ivory/nudish. Mayyybe a warm peach.
What else? Any ideas? pictures and ideas r both welcome.
A red or maroon lengha that has accents of green in it (like border)..Ivory and gold as well will also look nice with an emerald set, as long as the styles complement each other.
combination of ivory and green will also look great
other cominations I can think of are shocking pink and bottle green, orange and bottle green/green, red and green, maroon and green, bronze golden with green and maroon....
pastels would look lovely with dark emerald color. Suggest some light green like a pistachio green ..go for a monochromatic tones of the same lighr color with variations. It would definately look very elegant with the dark emerald set.
FF the kind of dress i had! cos i wore emeralds too
i had green, gold, silver, a touch of rust, and ivory kaam in beads and threadwork. it worked beautifully with the emeralds, so i guess i’m biased towards them and my dress haha although my set was vintage but not the way you’re thinking.
in my case, the outfit was gold and tan and it had kaam on it in colours but nothing too bright or contrasty- not that theres anything wrong with that look, but an antique emerald set is likely to have larger stones and be elaborate without being fussy so i think the dress can’t be elaborate or fussy either. it has to be one or the other IMO… super detaild dress, simple set OR simpler dress/detailed set so they both stand out in their own right instead of competing with each other. so perhaps my kind of kaam wouldn’t work on the kind of antique set you’re thinking of… if i’ve got it right…
i’d suggest a very classic-looking gharara, in a muted gold or tan silk with lots of tone on tone kaam with maybe hint of emerald here and there, and really thin emerald green piping on the edges. with tiny little pouf sleeves in net and delicate kaam on their edges. something super graceful, flowy, and elegant… to suit the antique look of the outfit.
the kind of feel that zara shahajahan’s gharara’s hav in her bridal collection- even though hers have a lot of kaam on them but somehow it doesn’t seem like that… http://www.zarashahjahan.com/
I think some of the ghararas look nice, but I dont like how she doesnt put a 'goat' on them at the knee...without that they kinda just look like really wide-legged bell bottoms.
she doesnt have a boutique in karachi yet...just the one in model town, lahore...
Thanks for the ideas girls. I am liking the warm pinkish peach idea with hints of green and gold.
I remember shocking pink and green from the latest umrao jaan movie, it looked really pretty in the movie but I think she wants something not so bright and loud. She wants to go brighter on the valima. I was thinking coral pink with some green would look pretty too. MAroon and green, probably not cos they are both such dark colours.
Lets see what she opts for. I would go with pinky peach though.
