Colonel Imam (Real Name: Amir Sultan Tarar & Ex chief of Central Asia Dept-ISI) is a former Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence operative and former Pakistani Consul general Herat. He is widely believed to have played a key role in the formation of the Taliban.
He remained involved in Afghanistan issues since working with the CIA-ISI backed Afghan Mujahidin in the 1980s. From 1996 onwards it is believed that he served as the Pakistan government liaison with the Taliban leadership.
He personally trained Mullah Omar & received a piece of Berlin War from George Bush Senior calling his contribution as the “First Blow”

Again that was a need of time, now today this same guy is supporting operation against Taliban whom he fathered. People like Col Imam are the real son of nation who just execute orders without asking any question and any personal motive !

Colonel Imam sahb is not more than a Fankenstein character to me. If Taliban was his beloved brainchild.. then all he has done is to creat MOnster to turn back and haunt him. If this wat his Legacy is ..he must not go down respectable in history though remembered
The fact is! it is not the originators of Taliban or MQM or whatever controversial organization. The actual problem are the success or loyalties of those who remove/ eliminate/ paralyze the originators or policies at wrong time.
Like MQM got out of hands after Zia's assassination and same holds good for Taliban
Zia, BB, Nawaz Sharif, ISI all have been alleged for many wrong steps. But all such actions are initiated owing to compulsions of that point in time.
The taliban (though a monster now) were an effective way to stop afghan infighting and at least secure afghan border which was always threatened by russia and indian interference.
It was all fine till Osama another indian agent gave way to US to enter our region.
If imam had created Taliban..... The ISI still exists and many brains must be working out an exit strategy for current fiasco.... be rest assured
the creation of Taliban wasnt only objective to contain red-caps flood. For pakistan's national interests we needed secure Durend line. And that failed miserably. If taliban were freedom fighters the resistance shud have orignated, peaked and pleatued inside afghan borders. Wat we needed to settle was mounting insurgency and seperatist movments in our own province Baluchistan where people were openly in support of red caps. The province is still an unrest. Wat sank pakistan were proxy war, millions in refugees unto an already struggling economy and klashinkoff culture in already struggling democracy.
Fact of the matter is pakistan has no escape from Islam and pakistani muslims are emotional and volatile. Anti-west sentiments have always been highly aroused rite from partition cuz they are seen as infidels and enemies against islamic dominance ( and rightly so) it becomes complicated due to another fact that we are an Aid-based developing country and need american dollars to sustain a government and white elephant of an army. It is always wrong to use religion or jihad as a political weapon. which is a cheap stake and a strategic suicide. Islam has concept of ummah and not borders.
This shud hav been conducted as an Afghan freedom struggle rite from the beginning and not as islamic revolt against forces of evil which was bound to spill over to our lands.
