Re: Coffee Cake
Looks delicious. I want a slice of that with some tea. Okay, maybe two slices. Or three? :halo:

Re: Coffee Cake
I have a little typo, although i think most ppl figured it out. the cinnamon in the recipe should be actually cinnamon powder. Sorry for any confusions.
I am trying to edit the recipe but for some reason i dont see an option on it. Dunno what i am missing :(
Waisay, Sadaf, i am not sure why the cake would sink in the middle. If you look at my pic, my cake is also slighly sunken. Next time try a loaf pan like aaish suggested. That could make a bit of a difference.
Re: Coffee Cake
Aaish I used Puck cheese spread.
Thanks for posting the recipe it seems delicious. I will try it and let you know :)
Ira, Yeah I figured it out that it was the cinnamon powder. next time I will also use the loaf pan. actually the one I have right now was a bit smaller for that quantity.
Re: Coffee Cake
Thanks Sadaf but here puck is banned in superstore after the case of Amir cheema ,but its ok i have cheese spread of local company and inshallah i will try Ira recipe in one or two days.and will tell u how will be my experiance .
Re: Coffee Cake
Amir cheema? what's the story?
Where do you live BTW?
Re: Coffee Cake
dont u know the student that shaheed in german prison, danish news paper publish cartoon of our propeht after that here in KSa mostly superstore stop seeling danish and german products and puck is one of them and we too stop buying them.
u can find the details on net.
Re: Coffee Cake
I see..
Well, I am in UAE the danish products were banned for some time but they are back again.
I wonder if we make it with Kiri or other triangular shaped cheeses, it will make any difference. Because Kiri is bit harder/stiffer than Puck or Almarai spreads.
Re: Coffee Cake
yes thats i am thinking too that if i add trinagle cheese des it takes differance as using spread looks me a little difficult as its measurment and mess.
Re: Coffee Cake
FYI, the kinda cheese that i used was thick consistency. I believe Puck is very runny, but it sure us YUMM.
Re: Coffee Cake
finally tried da coffee cake.
the toppings were gud, crusty and aromatic.
da cake was really richhhh and nice but i shud have used a loaf pan. :D
Re: Coffee Cake
girls i made the coffee cake and realy it was not only good in taste but in shape too,i made it in loaf pan and used half of cheese spread and half of trinagle cheese but i add little more milk in it ,and didnt have cinamon so didnt use it,it didnt sink from centre anyway its good.Ira thanks for sharing the recipe.
but girls tried the pineapple caremalized cake too that i posted ,its good too.
Re: Coffee Cake
I'm trying to bake this cake right now BUT BUT I don't know how long to bake it????? :( Ira, save my cake please tell me how many minutes to bake it!!!!!
Re: Coffee Cake
OK, I baked the cake for 32 minutes, about the same amount of time I bake the Betty Crocker cake mix. It cracked from the middle and came out pretty burned on top. *sob*I need to brush up my baking skills coz they really suck! :/ I removed a thin layer from top so it looks ok now but tastes very delicious and moist. Thanks for posting the recipe! :)
Re: Coffee Cake
LOL i had forgotten about this cake until hubs decided to bake it this weekend.
Corrupto, what size pan did you use? hubs used a small pan and his cake also burned from the top but took longer to cook from teh inside.
Re: Coffee Cake
I used 9 by 13 in pan and used the same amount of ingredients mentioned in your recipe. Mine also took longer to cook from inside but came out pretty burned on top, I wonder why. :s
Here is a tip from master bakers, if you see your cake browning from the top while the bottom part is still not done...... cover your pan with an aluminum foil tent.....
that way it will not burn from the top..this is a tried and tested tip :)
Re: Coffee Cake
^Great tip, I was wondering too if it would help to cover it with foil. I'll try it next time. Thanks!
