Of course there are corrupt officials! That’s why you have court martial and public never get to find out about the prosecution that takes place there - everyday! I can personally tell you a story about senior officials who were quietly dealt with for indulging in dodgy arm deals. I bet any money the media and general public has absolutely no idea about that episode yet it happened. Let’s not try to undermine military discipline and their internal staff monitoring system. For security reasons, some of the top dogs are too closely watched.
There is always more to Police/FC doing operations in civilian clothing than what meets the eye. As far as Pakistan military is considered, their combat gear is increasingly looking so similar to their American counterparts.
Again, let’s not kid ourselves thinking that Army could have managed to indulge in an arm race, technical research and development and upgrading programme and carry out combat missions if - like in civilian institutions and politicians - its budget was being eaten by corrupt officials. There are of course black sheep, but they are eventually dealt with.
Actually its a crucial trip for relationship b/w Pakistan and Russia (specially for military relationship). Since NS is busy visiting Saudia-Turkey-INGland (repeat it twice, thrice..), someone has to visit the place that matters for things other than personal business gains.
Above news is based on speculations rather than the real purpose of the visit. This visit is still seems to be a ser sappatta on government expenses and acting as civilian politician rather than a professional. This is the job of PM and foreign minister not him.
^ Oh please. A PPP supporter who suddenly likes to appear so concerned about ‘government expenses’. Who are you kidding here? Enough of your opportunistic and prejudiced pot shots at army.
For your information, Russians are not stupid. They certainly don’t treat an Army chief (belonging a country they seemingly still hold a grudge against) with stately military protocol who’s on a mere “sair sappatta visit”. Get this.
Smack whatever crap you want to smack about ‘Pakistan’s Army’ but do study a thing or two about Russian character!
And yes, since we have far too many US poodles and pups in the country, the ‘real purpose’ of the visit will never be revealed! But without even saying much, this seems like a historic visit and some kind of formulation of Pakistan-China and Russia nexus is appearing on the horizon. While India and US are improving ties, perfect opportunity for Pakistan to also mend its relations with Russian. Time to diversify our geopolitical network.
