It is duty of Nawaz Sharif's Government to clarify this as these are genuine concerns. How much money is wasted in such useless visits should be audited by Auditor general of Pakistan.

MIR ALI: The Pakistan Army has taken strong exception to a recent report by the US Defence Department which accused Pakistan of using “proxy forces to hedge against the loss of influence in Afghanistan and to counter India’s superior military”.
Pakistan has already summoned US Ambassador Richard Olson to the Foreign Office to convey concerns over the report earlier this month.
The country’s protest over what the Foreign Office called “unwarranted comments” had been conveyed by the Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz to the US ambassador at the Foreign Ministry.
Briefing reporters from both national and international media at the army headquarters in Mir Ali, North Waziristan on Saturday, Major General Zafarullah Khan Khattak termed the report “baseless, malicious, demoralising and contrary to ground realities”.
“There is no such thing [happening here as is] mentioned in the Pentagon report. Pakistan army is not using militants anywhere for so called proxy wars,” said the senior army officer.

Its almost clear now that Army is calling shots in foreign policy at least with regard to US, India and Afghanistan. Aaab jub foreign policy chalaeen gai, tu visits tu kerney pareen gai.
btw, I am sure some of these visits are on the invitation from host country so they take care of bills for at least 2-3 people. I don't think COAS travel with whole entourages like our badshah PMs. I agree though that in ideal democracy, COAS tours should be restricted to professional tours.

The army chiefs’ visiting other countries is not an alien thing, even a not-so-military-dominant-country army chief visits so many countries:

Such visits are important for army chief so that he can evaluate world opinion. It is possible that he is going to be Pakistan chief executive in a year time.
COAS is looking seriously the way thugs are running and destroying the country, and most Pakistanis are waiting when conscious of COAS would wake and he would pay the worth of his wage that poor Pakistanis are giving him to make sure country stay safe from outside aggression, terrorists attacking from inside, and also from thugs harming Pakistan with their nepotism, victimization, mismanagement, loot, and plunder.

What's wrong with international visits? Does he bring a big contingent with him? Do his children accompany him?
