Cleaning your car

And I’m talking about cleaning the car from INSIDE!

How often do you guys clean the inside of your car and what do you use? Also those of you with kids, what about in winter, when the kids get in the car with their muddy shoes?? I don’t mind taking it to the car cleaners but in winters it seems to need a clean every week! Obviously that can work out quite expensive.

Also, do all of you use car fresheners? They make me nauseous and can bring on car sickness! :frowning:
I have tried aromatherapy oils on the interiors, but it only lasts a few hours..:naraz:

Re: Cleaning your car

In winters its hell of a work here, especially when its snowing everwhere. you cant wash your car, and put your feet inside with snow. and you cant freeze yourself by cleaning it even! so no way out!
we do all that cleaning etc in summers.. all inside out.
Talking of air freshnerss, do in when you leave the car, and that too under car seats and in the corners.

Re: Cleaning your car

i get my car professionally cleaned every time i change my oil which is almost every 3 months. in winter, one more time in between. i get car washed at the same time.

Re: Cleaning your car

I’m glad it does not snow that much here!! Do you mean use spray air fresheners under car seats? Hmm I could give that a try…:hmmm:

Re: Cleaning your car

Spoken like a true bachelor! Looks like you have never had any kids in your car ever KKF! :nahi:

What about car fresheners??

Re: Cleaning your car

i’ve my own trick…take kleenex and spray perfume on it and then fold it 5 times [maximum] and stick it in the front vent. it lasts 2-3 days and you can have your favourite perfume smell in the car!

Re: Cleaning your car

Wow, that sounds good! Does it work both with heating or air conditioning in the car? I will first try this with my aromatherapy oils tomorrow! :@:

Re: Cleaning your car

lol…i do transport ‘kids’ [bhateeje/bhateejiyaaN] magar they are grown-ups! hehe

yes, it does work…you just need air going thru the Kleenex, cold or hot doesn’t matter. i LOVE my inventions

btw, it works at home too…stick it in the heater registers.

Re: Cleaning your car

:bummer: I somehow read it ‘cleaning your ear’ … from inside :cb:

Re: Cleaning your car

Not a big fan of cleaning the car myself .. i find it horrendous and really hectic , dont know why :frowning:

So I have just left it upto my husband to either clean it himself or just get it cleaned every once in a while ..

However regards the airfreshner, I have got a suggestion .. I dislike very strong smell of these airfreshners .. So I place them inside the compartment. That really helps keep it mild .. sometimes we have also placed them behind the shades .. that way also they dont smell as strongly. and when they become lighter after a few days .. we hang them back on the mirror .. works well for us ..

Re: Cleaning your car

Time to visit the opticians, perhaps? :hehe:

I hate it too CB! :hinna: Husband’s car is always clean, because, well he doesn’t have to take the kids anywhere! Maybe I should let the winter pass and then get it valeted again!

Yes those scented thingys are very strong when you open them. I have tried putting them in the glove compartment, but the tissues in there end up smelling really strong then! :frowning:

I keep my car clean all the time, there is no leftover snacks or cups. The mats get cleaned atleast weekly.

there is no reason for the car to smell. Windows and sunroof is cracked open while parked so even if kids have had snacks , no smell has a chance to linger.

A simple quick wipe of dashboard keeps that clean. Leather gets cleaner and conditioned once a month.

Same kids, begum’s car, and that looks like a gypsy wagon.

Re: Cleaning your car

Cleaning car is not my headache, I only drive car care taker is my husband and due to his tough duties being doctor, car’s cleanliness is always a bit compromised. I just make sure not to leave any papers etc that can give it an untidy look. I have never placed any fresheners in car and there is never stinky smell in the cars i use

Re: Cleaning your car

Did you say, a gypsy’s wagon? So everyone DOES have one of those then, or more precisely, everyone’s wife!

I don’t let the kids have messy snacks or drinks in the car and the smell is of muddy shoes in winter. Its just that I would like a lingering fragrance of Lavender or ylang ylang in my car. Is that too much to ask for…:@:

Re: Cleaning your car

^ with kids …yes

Re: Cleaning your car

the question is not whether it is too much to ask for, but is it too much to do.

we have an understanding, she can keep her car however the way she wants, I will get it cleaned professionally when she wants it done, but unless I have to drive it, its her car, her business. If I do have to drive it, it better be clean before I sit in it.

get the fragrance sticks from yankee candle company, pretty good. I got her some last time I picked up some for myself. But why cover up, take the mats out once a week and rinse em off, get those winter rubber mats, take seconds to clean. eliminate the source of odors..(mud..not kids) and you dont have to cover it up, crack open the windows every so often and you should be fine.

Re: Cleaning your car

Every 2 weeks the car gets cleaned from the inside.

So far my car has not needed a freshner, so I can’t help you with that.

Re: Cleaning your car

No air freshner! Guac it sounds like you have brand spanking new car…

Re: Cleaning your car
