Classic English 80s Music

Is anyone a fan of Duran Duran? I absolutely LOVE their stuff and have all of the original records.

I think artists from England and Europe produced the greatest music during the 80s… Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Tears for Fears, Simply Red, The Police, A-Ha, Laura Branigan, U2, Sade, Wham, INXS, David Bowie, Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry)…the list goes on and on.

Who are your favourite artists from the 80s? Or am I the only 80s fanatic here?

Mehnaz, I like alot of the bands from the 80s that you mention. :k:

The 80's pop scene, ah yes, brings back memories. Although I liked the hits from most of the bands you mentioned, my tastes in the 80's and even now were geared towards the heavier side of music :) I do remember listening to many of those pop hits though. One of the first records my parents purchased for me was Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in 1982 :D

Mind you David Bowie is from the late 60's, early 70's. The early 70's were his "heyday".

Re: Classic English 80s Music

I LOVE 80’s music. Duran Duran is so awesome. I have their greatest hits, but its stuck in my cousins car :crying:

U2, New Order, Tears for fears, The Police, INXS :biggthumb

I like Bruce Springsteen too.

hmm… Bryan Adams…

Then there are soooo many classic songs-which are one or two hit wonders…

I love it!!

yes. old is gold :~) …dun know in which yr. does Frank Sinatara fall but some of his songs are :k: e.g. summer wine.

Mehnaz how can you forget Depeche Mode :D

Yeah I know, but I love his songs:

Modern Love
China Girl
Blue Jean
Dancing in the Street

....classic 80s tunes.

Oh yeah, DEPECHE MODE!!! Jeez, I was writing an exam on Monday and was distracted cause I had Master and Servant going through my head!!!

I like Spandau Ballet too. :) The lead singer was a hottie.

However, I think my all time favourite has to be Duran Duran. Nothing beats the Rio and Seven and the Ragged Tiger records.

Duran Duran is one of my favs too-(Save A Prayer is my fav. i think)

Didn’t care for talking heads :nook:

The CURE!!!

Tom Petty (Don’t come around here no more)

Bon Jovi

random
OMD-If You Leave
Soft Cell-Tainted Love
Naked Eyes

Too much to name

My favourite song of the 80's was by Mike and The Mechanics... The Living Years

Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door

I know that I'm a prisoner
To all my Father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got

You say you just don't see it
He says it's perfect sense
You just can't get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talking in defence

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts

So Don't yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different day
And if you don't give up, and don't give in
You may just be O.K.

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

I wasn't there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say

I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo
In my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

"Dirty Diana"

Oh No . . .
Oh No . . .
Oh No . . .

You'll Never Make Me Stay
So Take Your Weight Off Of Me
I Know Your Every Move
So Won't You Just Let Me Be
I've Been Here Times Before
But I Was Too Blind To See
That You Seduce Every Man
This Time You Won't Seduce Me

She's Saying That's Ok
Hey Baby Do What You Please
I Have The Stuff That You Want
I Am The Thing That You Need
She Looked Me Deep In The Eyes
She's Touchin' Me So To Start
She Says There's No Turnin' Back
She Trapped Me In Her Heart

Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, No
Dirty Diana
Let Me Be!

Oh No . . .
Oh No . . .
Oh No . . .

She Likes The Boys In The
Band
She Knows When They Come To Town
Every Musician's Fan After
The Curtain Comes Down
She Waits At Backstage
Doors
For Those Who Have Prestige
Who Promise
Fortune And Fame, A Life
That's So Carefree
She's Saying That's Ok
Hey Baby Do What You Want
I'll Be Your Night Lovin' Thing
I'll Be The Freak You Can Taunt
And I Don't Care What You
Say
I Want To Go Too Far
I'll Be Your Everything
If You Make Me A Star

Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, No
Dirty Diana . . .
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, No
Dirty Diana . . .
Diana!
Diana!
Dirty Diana!
It's Dia . . .Aa . . .Aa . . .
Come On!

She Said I Have To Go Home
'Cause I'm Real Tired You See
But I Hate Sleepin' Alone
Why Don't You Come With
Me
I Said My Baby's At Home
She's Probably Worried
Tonight
I Didn't Call On The Phone To
Say That I'm Alright

Diana Walked Up To Me,
She Said I'm All Yours
Tonight
At That I Ran To The Phone
Sayin' Baby I'm Alright
I Said But Unlock The Door,
Because I Forgot The Key,
She Said He's Not Coming
Back
Because He's Sleeping With
Me

Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, No
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana, Nah
Dirty Diana . . .
Come On!
Come On!
Come On!
Come On!...
