The Don CJ has done the following extra-constitutional acts in his time:-
- Disregarded the constitution and swore an oath of Musharraf's PCO in 2000, and thereby got himself promoted from the Quetta High Court to the Supreme Court.
- Validated Musharraf's military coup on the basis of the "doctrine of necessity".
- Allowed Musharraf to singlehandely amend the constitiution - a power never given to any ruler before him.
If I am not misaken, I believe Don CJ Iftikhar was also one of the two judges who went to the Awan-i-Sadar in June 2001 to "persuade" President Rafique Tarrar to make way for Musharraf assuming the Presidency?
The generals also take oath to uphold the constitution. Right SB?
