***Islamabad: The Supreme Court has ordered Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) chairman to take measures to stop obscenity on TV channels.
The orders came during the hearing of a petition against obscenity on TV channels. An SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.

The CJ remarked: We can’t watch TV with our families due to this vulgarity”. He said the PEMRA would be responsible if obscenity was shown on TV channels.

PEMRA Chairman told the court ” We are also family men and we take action over any such program”. **

Why CJ is watching obscene programs? If some one doesn’t like it don’t see it. I hope CJ is not that stupid that he does not know the Internet and what can be watched there? It is really a stupid and waste of time by CJ ignoring other important cases for which he is being paid handsome salary with perks from tax payer money.
I hope government should not take any action on his stupid decisions which absolutely do not affect the people.

but I don't see anything wrong with CJ's order to categorise programmes into ratings. It makes perfect sense and neither it curbs the 'freedom' of media.

there are two views to this. some are saying CJ is overstepping and this isnt his job, on the other hand, some are saying, its about time action is taken.
for the sake of ratings and in the name of modernization channels do cross their limit. Pemra is just sitting idle, they need to step in and take serious action against these channels who run objectional programs.
