Civil war in Iraq

Civil war is raging in Iraq these days, 78 people killed yesterday in 12 bomb blasts. 520 people killed during the last one month.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

is Iraq a Muslim country by any chance? we shouldn't be surprised if it's the case! :(

dear op this is nothing new.. civil war has been going on since saddam fell

Re: Civil war in Iraq

Yes but the level of violence these days is touching that when saddam was desposed.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

thank you America and Britian you have made iraq such a peaceful and non violent place.

We hope you are satisfied with the blood, violence and carnage your illegal invasion has caused!

this must be the freedom and democracy you keep telling the world about!

Re: Civil war in Iraq

America is not there anymore. Time for the actual actors who are blasting away to take 100% blame for this.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

Sectarian strife flares up once and a while. It's not a civil war until the Sunni and Shia leadership say so. So, technically it's just "sectarian violence".

The question is if the violence is sponsored by major state players. Will it extend to the Kurdish regions? How long will the violence be sustained? Will the state act to quell it? And most importantly, how correlated is this violence to what is going on in Syria?

Just because people are fighting, doesn't mean there's a sustainable cause behind it. The Muslim world is now suffering from a "rebel without a clue" syndrome. From Tamarod, to wayward Jihadists...nobody really knows what they're fighting for...they just want to get the "other" guy.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

whitewashing the problem ain't going to work on this forum, your dumb illegal invasions is the root cause and opened the pandoras box hope your proud!

Re: Civil war in Iraq

The United States and Great Britain did indeed start war in Iraq and caused such destruction but they aren't the ones who are now placing bombs in markets and on buses. Saddam was a demon who kept the smaller demons under control, but since he has been removed they have come out of the wood work to do their wicked deeds.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

ah yes and cia, blackwater and Xe are giving lollipops to little children because never in our wildest dreams would they plant bombs and causing sectarian conflict and start dirty wars in places like el salvador, hondourus, Guatemala, Columbia, etc etc!

Re: Civil war in Iraq

I really don't know how to respond to the lollipop point but rommel are you really saying there are no sectarian issues in Iraq and all this is caused by the US, the West, EU, India and of course Israel???

Re: Civil war in Iraq

Was there sectarian warfare in Iraq before US arrived on the scene oh no there wasn't.

No need to be silly you know the US caused the fire.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

There were sectarian issues in Iraq, during his reign Saddam had oppressed the Shias and now they are embroiled in a bitter civil war of sorts with the minority Sunnis in an attempt to take control of the country.

That doesn't exonerate the UK or the US for an unnecessary war but the iraqi sectarian problems are of their own.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

This is false assessment if you speak to iraqis they say there was intermarriage between sects they was neighbors there was no problems between them. There was problems in the north saddam oppressed kurds.

But in rest of iraq no way there was sectarian problem as you say. Today its a disaster since the Americans arrived you have have had bombs in shia mosques and sunni mosques what a coincidence?????

Re: Civil war in Iraq

So then Saddam had not oppressed the Shia community?

Re: Civil war in Iraq

Is it a civil war or sectarian killings or just insurgency?

Have two groups waged war on each other or its just random people killing other random people.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

You are exonerating the United States and UK because no way the amount of violence or sectarian problems before the US decided to turn Iraqi society upside down.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

In a way you are right had the Allies not invaded Iraq Saddam would've continued to suppress the Shias and there wouldn't have been an opportunity for Shias to bomb Sunnis and vice versa. Nonetheless the choice to commit these brutal attacks lies with the perpetrators not with the Americans or British.

Re: Civil war in Iraq

At the moment its sectarian killings but it wont take long to become a full fledged civil war (if not controlled).

Re: Civil war in Iraq

With American death squads and contractors having free run in Iraq for over 10 years. You chose not to acknowledge their bombings and assasinations in both shia and sunni places of worship to create division and situation we have today.

Because this is their expertise.

Did you support Iraqi occupation by the American military?
