God is my witness , A Hindu co-worker of mine , told me that his doctor advised him to get circumcised , to get rid of some infection, he was getting frequently. I told him man , Allah is giving you a sign to convert to Islam and he smiled.

In Canada, I think, it is done within few days....
Lady next to my room had a boy and the baby was circumcised the day of discharge...

My doctor said that he'll do the surgery on my baby when he is born the next day. I think its perfect.

My bhaanja born recently...got it done the 2nd or 3rd day after the feed-poop-cycle started the kid just keeps sleeping and doesn't move much....so wound healing is also better......
Advice= get it done within few days

^Anesthesia is used during surgery but it is the healing time that may be painful.
Since babies are not moving around and the nerves are not developed that much they feel less pain than an adult after surgery.
I find it so much easier to clean my son now when he is circumsized.
Before I had to pull back the skin as well to clean him so I just find it easier now.

oh and there is also the horror of having a botched surgery... so make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing... when my son was getting his done.. there was a lady there with her son waiting to get it re-done cuz this other dr totally messed up such an easy operation.

I can only give you the Hanafi ruling on this.
Protecting your private parts and not uncovering them in front of a non-mehram is Farz (obligatory), circumcision is Sunnat. Farz takes over sunnat. So in case of an adult male converting to islam, he has 3 options.

In Jewish-ism circumcision is consider a commandment from God, in Islam it's not mentioned in Quran, but majority consider it obligatory and part of Sunnah.
This is one of the topic on which all sects of Islam from the beginning have consensus.

In the matters of life threatening or critical situations, yes. Circumcision is neither.

should be, but again - giving birth is a matter of life and death so if lady gyn is not available, men obgyn are allowed.

Interesting. I was under the impression that in most medical matters, life threatening or not, its allowed to have male/female doctor.
