Wow, allow me to praise Roman for his insights. I am glad to see that Desi men are now beginning to see a bit more that a barbie doll image in women( dont take me wrong and start attacking me ). Roman, come hither to NY and you will find quite a few Amanpours by Upper East side ( smart ladies with rigid glow).

I am with Roman on this one. Not because she turns me on also, but because that she is just too unordinary. On top of speaking fluent French, Spanish and Farsi, she also converses in Yiddish, and Urdu (Hindustani). Lots of brains in one package. Good going Rom. I hope that it is her oral/lingual skills that you find attractive.

* **1. **I saw her interview with Mushy and the only impression I got of her was that she's a kniving little (ummm...well, not little.. sowwy) reporter who wasn't interested in the story but to get quotes which will put her on the spotlight (again!). The questions she asked and the manner in which she presented them didn't convince me at all that she wanted to report fairly and impartially ...

**2. **She's just another reporter who's made it big and wants to get that stroy just like any other reporter.

**3. **She's doing what she's doing to keep her image and marteability high...

I agree that she dispenses reports/views without any hesitation but I think she does so because she knows shes a hotshot in the journalism business and any network will kick Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walter out the window to make room for her

  1. I didn't see that interview so can't comment on the nature of the questions, however, I tend not to look at selective few instances of deviation, it's the overall image/impression that I have about her that matters. We're no angels, and neither is she (plus, angels come with these really weird wings attached to them, totally a big turn-off).

  2. & 3.

It's all a matter of personal perception. I cannot claim to read her mind to declare to be absolutely certain about her motives or aspirations. It's just a matter of perception, you have yours, I have mine.

Moreover, I don't see anything wrong with her wanting to replace any of the high profiled anchors in the media - more power to her. That actually shows her limitless aspiration to achieve professional excellence.

But even if it is true, she is intelligent enough to put a unique front up to her presentation of her image. It's subliminal and subtle and shows unconventional style and class. Why is it that while we, ourselves, indulge upto a limited degree of self-actualization in terms of honesty and objectivity but at the same time expect others to possess a greater deal of it based purely on our personal perceptions of them?

I'd be a fool to think if somebody is honest or objective completely due to his/her strong belief in the principle itself. That sounds desirable, ideally speaking, but not realistic. There are always other advantages that stimulate motivation.

yara, how come they only introduce themselves to you

pathwari yara, it's just a rumor I heard, I won't know it off first-hand experience.

I tend not to look at selective few instances of deviation, it's the overall image/impression that I have about her that matters. We're no angels, and neither is she..

There's a difference b/w her and me. Or you and her or her and any average Javed! Millions of people around the globe watch her (umm.uh.. not the way you watch her but the other way... ya know..) and base their opinions about the current events (whether thats fair or not is entirely different discussion). This is the reason why we hold certain individuals (leaders, Journalist, Media etc.) in our society with higher regard than the average person. People listen to what they report and watch what they do. It goes with the terriotory and there's little room for "deviation" from the decorum for these individuals. The day I start reporting the news to the millions knowing full well that average Javed will base his opinion after watching my "in-depth" report, I will also adhere to a stricter code of conduct. So, her job is to maintain a standard conduct in every single report she does. There's no room for deviation..

it's the overall image/impression that I have about her that matters.

abay, I have no beef with what you like in women...

But ghalib, that's not realistic. Mostly, there are always contraversial aspects to a public figure. There are always instances of deviation among those who are under the spotlight. True that we expect more from them, but that doesn't mean if they are not upto par with our expectations to the degree we want them to be, we completely disregard the other qualities as well.

So I don't think it's a matter of whether there is a deviation or not, but rather a matter of frequecny and degree of deviation that calls for stern verdict and I don't think that's the case with Ms Amanpour. Mostly, she has done an excellent job for past one decade or so.

OK! now that we know what gupland thinks about Christine Amanpour, lets move the focus towards Aaron Brown or Larry King.

Please refrain from the blunt public display of your sexually-deviant admiration for the aforementioned two media figures.

That goes for you too, queer.

humiliated, retreats from thread

Dhaliwaal of ITN was interviewed by David Letterman about a year + ago. I was impressed but then I have a thing for English accent.

Monita Raj of CNN used to be an anchor/newsreporter for a Toronoto TV station called City. A CNN executive saw her on TV one evening from his Hotel Room and promptly offered her a job.

Abay, I was only kidding (This should not, however, mean that you'd continue with your violent shudders).

faceup dude, don't even talk about women's British accent, Ok?. That's a whole different book. I'm in love with every single British woman on earth by default.

I'm in love with every single British woman on earth by default.

I think "British" can be crossed out.

Roman, I doubt that every single British woman is a good statement to make,

I've heard some British accents that make you wanna throw up.

Amanpour does have a 'commanding' presence and is really good at her job. Maybe, it is this 'commanding' or domineering presence that has captivated our friend Roman. Maybe, Amanpour reminds Roman of Mommy or the Security Mommy brought to Roman's life (?).

Btw - I love English accent; don't care much about Irish accent.

Please, faceup, do not bring your personal, familial psycho-sexual problems here, ok? I mean, we might be able to help you with advice and enlightment in many other matters (religious, political, intellectual etc) but we're no psychiatrists.
