I remember my Khala saying ' This all Purda warda is for middle class woman. Women from upper and lower class don't follow these restrictions' :)

this is true in modern times, culturally all women in UP follow purdah:), and purdah is banned in Sikhi and culturally unacceptable in Indian Punjabis:)

As per my Boss ' Pudah is followed in societies, where women is considered like a commodity / Jageer' :(

UP and Bihar are two separate statesin India but both have same ethnicity, Urdu speaking community of Pakistan is mostly from this region:)

UP means Uttar Pardesh.. Bihar is different.

Aalaah is an folksong which details story of Pritviraj Chauhan and two brave brother named Aalah and Udal:), Poorbiayas sing in Awadhi, they speak in Awadhified Urdu with their facial expression matching the nature of story is in:D, Awadhi and Braj are sweetest dialect of Hindi and Ganga-Yamuna ki tehzeeb is very much civilized and reflects in Urdu language:)

this 18 hour with marriage nearly gave me a heart attack, last year in october my brother got married and loadshedding of 18 hours was taking place in Lahore at that time… we felt very relieved after the marriage ceremonies ended without a drama.

tell me about it, I have seen it happening everywhere, women just love to talk about their clothes/bags/shoes everything!

in my hometown, when we had shadi gatherings and all that, only immediate family men were allowed inside, like chacha, mama, or first cousins! … we had this strict parda thing and you are suppose to cover your face when you are entering haveli, guards or men who are standing outside are not suppose to see your faces, infact they were suppose to go away and not stand closer to haveli gate, when the cars are entering the haveli! it was cool, because I can see everyone and nobody can see you!

Is some one in your family a wadera?

and do those guards carry guns?

yes guards do carry guns, but thts because of security reasons!
