Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
the kaur’s point was that with the advent of technology (mobile phones) lovebirds are connected to each other for most of the time.

Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
One of the dirtiest city in India:D
Chahe karlo duniya ka toor (tour)
ahi! Gajab hai kanpoor
Waise Farrukhabadi’s are the highest level ke Junglee:D
This happens in India too irrespective of religion:)
Lovebirds cannot meet in chopal or deras:D, It is good in one way, they get to know about each other and auntees are still same with or without deras, Chaupal is mostly the place where gram panchyat takes some decision or Jatt khap panchayat issues declaration of certain marriage:D
Yaa phir aatankwaadi ho??
18 hours load shedding:smack2:, lahore might have had better electricity during British time then:D
and monitor each other’s movement, Girlfriends soon becomes boyfriend stationary satellite and ask all sort of questions especially the one after phone of boyfriend goes busy:D
Social medias have become leaking point:(
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Chopal and Dera now may have been restricted to this jirga type activities.. But in old days, it was a place where people sit, share their routine, sing Heer, Mahiye, etc. It was the focal point in rural areas. When you can share your thought easily with people like you, it really help reducing depression, which is the symbol of today's society.
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
+! to the otaaq. I've heard many a tale about meetings of the men about the gaaon issues and maslay @ an otaaq
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Otaaq is bethak in Sindh.. same like Dera / Chopal in Punjab.
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Otaaq .. :D but why only men are allowed to go there and not women
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Even in punjabi society in delhi and in kashmiri mohalla, we celebrate nine days navratra by singing in most besura tone:D, thanks to ekta didi for adding glamor in the religion:D, my generation that was moving away from the basics has almost reverted, Krishna-Radha are still the most favourable valentine gift as told to me by gift seller this year:D
only thing is in our democracy they have power to discuss and give petition but not the power to solve it:bummer:
Men discuss to solve the problem, women discuss either to boast or to spread the rumour:D, In life1 this statement would have brought heavenly wrath on me though:D
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
lols life1 ki otaaq
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
It is very serious forum, and views of people are far more rational and mature:k:hence I feel left out:D,
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Otaaq .. :D but why only men are allowed to go there and not women
Because women don't need a place like otaaq. Two women can discuss things for hours by standing near the common wall of their homes. :)
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
My first comment there was ‘This is not my cup of tea’, but subsequently I realised that its fun to read and post there.

I read it but never post there, in my real life too, I don't take any of the important decisions, it is taken by the champ and if I had taken any decision it would be overruled:D, I have champ who can think and solve all problem that I face:), it is learning period of mine to learn to analyze and solve issues as rationally as she can:)

And it is highly unlikely that they will reach to the solution of problem at hand:)
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
^ They can reach a solution if its about sharing a recipe :)
In old homes, there used to be a small window in common wall. people used to exchange foods and small things like sugar, flour, through these windows. That was time of sharing. I remember in our Dada's house, we used to share water well with our neighbor Hindu family. :)
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
^^^ the hindu family was really good, had it been forward caste hindu family they would have not given even access to water:(, One can easily get why muslim majority provinces didn't like to live with hindus:)
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Yes the Hindus there never shown discrimination towards Muslims even not before partition when they were in majority. My Dada called many Hindus Souta ( Cousin - Chacha Zad in Sindhi).
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
But I think situation is deteriorating is Sindh now:bummer:, I have seen rise in sindhi immigrants in recent years, from a camp of six families now they are almost 60, in the camp near my home:(, I know people exaggerate their miseries to find acceptance here but overall it seems situation is not as good as it was probably then:)
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Yes the overall tolerance factor of the society is deteriorating rapidly. People are leaving their homes in hope of safety and better opportunities ![]()
The young generations seems to be more fanatic based on religion although comparatively they are less religious than there forefathers ![]()
Re: Chopal, Deiray aur Faraghat
Fanatics are opportunists not religious:). It is still said in India that sindh is home of tolerance but now sindhis are hell bent to prove otherwise:(
