Weather , large desi community , masjids at reasonable driving distance, desi restaurants and groceries at every corner , not literally . Lots of entertainment and tourist attractions in the area. Beaches are clean well kept and well maintained. I and my wife used to have picnics on the beaches of CA very often.
But if you have to drive to work using a freeway and work hours are not flexible then you are doomed if you live far from your work.

Not anymore . Moved out of there 11 years ago , I have family back there so I visit them frequently. I wish to be back there but can’t :hinna: I live in a chota sa pind of South East now after living in many big suburbs of US.

yeah, i know...same thing here...tomorrow here is gonna be 50 degrees Celsius with humidex BUT this is a short spell...mostly it's cool. in California, the temps are into 100's for most of the summer. i love snow as well and i do a lot of outdoor activities in winter. :)
since I am in chicago, only thing I have to survive are the high gas prices :(
hehe...u are lucky man...we pay much higher price for a litre of gas as compared to what you guys pay in the US...well, we pay a lot less per day as my city is of peanut size as compared to yours. nothing is farther than 10 minutes of drive :D
I have been to all these places except DC. I would not choose any of these places over Houston. I know some people will call me bias. No state taxes, too diverse which means there is no majority for any race it is pretty much equally divided, economic wise strong compare to rest of the States due to oil& gas companies as well as strong health care industry. Best part i have not seen any masjid so populated as they are in Houston which makes you feel home due to presence of large community you see every day.
Sceond best choice will be chichago. if you do like to pay high taxes and expensive stuff, but would like to enjoy nature then go to california. Stay away from 2 and 1. too much poltically driven and plus people are not as nice as south.
