Right now i live in a mid-size city and want to move.

So if given a choice (assuming you have a good job), what places would you prefer:

  1. NYC
  2. DC/Northern VA
  3. Houston
  4. Chicago
  5. California (San Jose or SoCal)

?

Houston though a very very warm place, has a great housing market from buyers stand point. You can buy a huge house for half the money that spend in VA

California is beautiful place (warm too) ..

I just gave my order based on the choices you gave. If its up to me, I probably would never move to east coast at all. West caost or midwest would be my choice.

LOL.....we were looking at some new houses just last night.......they are not that huge....maybe 4000 square feet.......the price starts at $1.4M......hubby said we could get that for around $350K in Texas.

is Plam sping in ornage county. Man that place is beautiful .

woah .. $1.4M for 4000 sq ft .. that is expensive ..

I hope that Canadian dollar is cheaper and Canadian foot is smaller than American ..

thing with California - im just afraid of earthquakes. Hurricanes and tornadoes dont bother me but just something abt unpredicctable nature of earthquakes rattles me.

And we know, unforunately, with almost certainty CALI is going to get hit with a big one in the upcoming decades.

GTA housing prices/market is hottest in whole North America (darogh ba-gardan-e-export-on radio)

No OC is around 250 km away from Palm Spring but that makes OC most desirable place. I was in Irvine which was 30 minutes to 4 hours away from beaches, mountains, las vagas, desserts, snow and whats not. Weather was just awesome.

If cost of living is not an issue suburbs of Los Angeles and San Francisco are the best places to live in US for desi folks.

I have lived there too Santa Ana and Garden Grove are in Orange county too , you do not want to live there.

San Francisco is absolutely beautiful........Sausalito too.
San Diego is not bad.

if u r single, then move to all these places and find out which area is more adaptable than the other. cuz may be what suits me and my requirements don't necessarily gonna fit your criteria.

Yes. I was more talking about Irvine / Tustin Ranch than whole OC...

Weather , large desi community , masjids at reasonable driving distance, desi restaurants and groceries at every corner , not literally . Lots of entertainment and tourist attractions in the area. Beaches are clean well kept and well maintained. I and my wife used to have picnics on the beaches of CA very often.
But if you have to drive to work using a freeway and work hours are not flexible then you are doomed if you live far from your work.
