Once a month , I take the time to separate chipped cups, glasses , bowls and plates … and then I just dispose them off … or use them for other non kitchen needs …
But I know of people who never throw them away and keep using them on and on and forever :hinna:
What is the best practice to handle chipped crockery? specially when an expensive piece gets chipped , what to do then?
Dil per pathar rakh ker dispose it off.. it can hurt you while handling even though you don't use it for kitchen purposes. You can use their orphaned co-parts for other uses though.
I throw them away too. But I don't go thru looking for one, I know since I am the one who wash dishes, when I have to throw something.
Its best to throw it away specially glasses.
^yeah thats what I was taught.. my mom was pretty strict about it and so am I.. I use Corelle for everyday and this thing doesn't break.. I am tired of using same plates for more than a year and they have hit the floor so many times but no they have survived through all.. for china crockery.. I don't use it very often but I always thought that you can buy a missing piece at Macy's.. can't you?
me too... no chipped crockery and no ripped clothing.. former is thrown out without even trying ot fix it cuz glass can never look the same again...
as for clothing.. if it cant be mended.. it needs to be thrown out too.. reasoning being fakeer jaisa huliya kerlo, allah fakeer bana dega and ive seen this to be true sadly..
Well you do as smilestar suggested, superglue it if you have the chipped part or use that plaster of paris thingie to cover the chipped part so it doesn’t hurt while handling. Of course you won’t be using it for eating/drinking etc. but depending upon the peice you can
make it a pencil holder as Kinzz suggested
or a candle holder
or maybe some artificial/real flowers like this
nah nothing like that. it's not even like on the outside (or inner part of the glass for that matter). it's like a 1 line in the inner layers of the glass...if that makes sense.
TLK and all you guys who think I chipp my stuff in excess … once a month I just look carefully at the stuff I have , doesnt mean , I definitely get chipped bartan every time …
Masi , great ideas … I usually do some glass painting on the chipped crystal glasses and use them as decoration pieces , flower vases etc …
Last week a large coffee mug got chipped so I turned it onto my lip and eye pencil holder … But I take extra care not to use the glass products on my cosmetic table .. coz glass can be really dangerous.
I always find it so hard to throw them away … It makes me really emtional and I just cant part with my things
