Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

Any girls own chinese/Vietnamese dress here..I am talking about the dresses that you bought from chinese stores…not Pakistani taylored chinese styles shalwar khameez.
What designs and colours do you have and what occasion have you worn it.
Most chinese dresses are like long skirts with slits on the sides, no trousers. Traditional vietnamese dresses usually have very long top with slits on the sides and they are worn with long trousers.

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

I got one in off-white, though I would've liked a royal blue more. It's a long skirt with slits on the sides. To be honest, I've only worn it once - at a company party back in 2003 I think. It's really pretty, but I haven't worn it since.

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

I have a short Chinese one in a deep blue with a silver print on it. I've worn it with pants to chaperon prom and to various slightly formal social events.

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

I bought a top in a royal blue color from a chinese store at square one...they have amazing stuff i even bought a little matching cluth to go with it as well..i wore the top on valentine's. i didnt want to wear anything red so blue is the new red for me

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

go for traditional red

red is in too

go for red with gold prints or self prints

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

Pink! I will check out the store..do you remember the name? Is it on the first floor.
Chinese dresses are so pretty, they do not look very different from khameez pants and has such elegance.
I have two dresses. One is raw silk in maroon color with pants. Shirt is full sleeves with slits on the sides. I have worn this at work's christmas party.
Another one I just bought is Vietnamese dress, very long black shifon shirt with shocking pink print work on it, with silk pink long pants.

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

I always wanted to get a shirt but I thought it would be too bold or too 90's, hmmm now I kind of want one.

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

Im suprised that it would be someone here who is interested in Vietnamese dress. I am a vietnamese who is married to a pakistani

** Vietnamese dress looks somewhat shalwar kameez but in some modified version. It has 2 slits but the slits r frequently longer (now long-to-toe style is in) and the dress is fitter to the body than shalwar kameez.**

About chinese dress i have no idea about it, do you guys mean quipao or something?.. I don’t like it at all. The way it is too deep cut to one side of thigh gives kind of sexy but very charmless look to me.

Back to Viet Dress. If you want to have a really nice Vietnamese dress then first of all you must find out one good tailor who is experienced in this. The dress should fit you perfectly and give you good shape of curves.

I wish someday vietnamese designers will adopt Pakistani/Indian handmade work style on viet dress. it would make a very good combination.

Here are some viet dress designs

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

Vietnamese dress has 2 parts just like shalwar kameez. you can not wear it without pants (or anything you’d like to call). or you want to show off your legs between the slits? :smack:

Re: Chinese/Vietnamese dresses

if you see it carefully once again you can tell apart that the lighter pink is pants and the darker pink with 2 slits is dress.

2 slits r splited till waist, if you dont wear pants you can imagine how it would look like hehehehe
