Chinese money

an interesting viewpoint…once our bureaucracy will realize that Chinese are not willing to share the money with them and would like keep the control of finances, they will start playing full fledged dirty games with Chinese

Re: Chinese money

My concept of investment is that the investor has an equal share in both profits and losses. However, looking at the major MOUs signed (specifically in power generation), all of them promise, rather guarantee hefty dollar returns to the investing firm. All of these commitments are higher than what is being paid to IPPs. Which brings to mind the question that if Pakistan cannot pay the 15% it has committed to the IPPs, how is it going to pay the 18, 23, and in some cases, as much as 30% now? Is this going to balloon our circular debt to default worthy proportions? or are these mostly feel-good MOUs which may never see the light of day because of their unrealistic nature? From what I read, China has already somewhat refused to accept Pakistan’s sovereign guarantees as collateral. So whats left?

Re: Chinese money

There was a village in United Punjab and there lived six Sikh brothers who had some 10 hecters of land adjacent to some other village of Chamars. The eldest brother thought to use the land for the cultivation of Sugarcane and hence called for meeting of all Six brothers. They all appreciated the idea and then talked about the implementation plan, the youngest of all came out with the theory that since the land is adjacent to the village they may eat up their sugarcanes.

All brothers got furious that how dare the village people consume their sugarcanes and grabbed their sticks and attacked the village, they beatup every person they found in the village, and when someone asked, Sardar Jee, What Happened, Why Are Yoy Beating Us? Sardar Jee Replied, This is for eating up our sugarcanes!, the guys from village asked what? which? where? when??? the sardar said, the one we are going to sow in coming future!!!

Najir Naji, the one who use to take Plots as a Bribe to write in favor or against a person/policy? suddenly went against corruption?? blaming that Pakistan ate up all the Saudi Funds it got for defense purpose?? if that is true, how come Pakistan got Nuclear and Missile and Drone and top notch defense capability??? How come Pakistan still have dams and other power generation project completed or under completion/construction??? how come Pakistan have 2 or 3 Nuclear Power Gen Projects going on???

Yes Pakistani Bureaucracy is corrupt, yes Politicians are corrupt but at same time it is the same politician and bureaucracy who managed to get this kind of Investment in country… and unlike What Naji is saying, the investment is not like someone is going to give you money and walkaway!!! it is like project focused…

Last not least, the racists in this forum and enemies of Pakistan are still in a fit over this success of Pakistan, wait till they call this project controversial in order to satisfy their masters… Pervaiz Khatak of KPK and PTI have already started it maybe upon IK’s instructions

Re: Chinese money

Naji has a bad record but the point that he made is valid. Our bureaucracy and politicians have no interest in infrastructure projects that will have cash flow out of their control

now shahbaz sharif may make some of it happen if he commits to it as he can kick bureaucracy’s ass

A lot of these MOUs will be feel good memo. by the Chinese announced projects in india double in amount than pakistan…just saying.

Re: Chinese money

I don’t care much about what China is investing in India or else where, i need to be more concerned about the projects i have got and get it implemented, Guys like Naji, Babar Awan and many more like them who are crooks and are bad name never gets my attention and i wouldn’t pay any attention to these crooks for that matter.

Pak. Bureaucracy is bad, and so is Indian… they are twice corrupt then we are.. SS at Punjab would be able to implement these projects, and hopefully NS can do the same at federal level, but if hurdle being created from the likes of Khatak then it is him and his party to be blamed only.

This is opportunity Pakistan need to grab by its teeth.. keep the watch but don’t let the village dog scare away the investment birds…

Re: Chinese money

As for the corruption issue, got proof show us all with evidence. I hate these articles and the Pakistani culture of accepting bull**** without evidence. Its a jahil attitude of uneducated inbreds.

Re: Chinese money

pls control your emotions and express them decently. everyone has a viewpoint and there is no need to use words “I hate, jahil, bull****, uneducated”.

just remember, you were accusing someone for “being hateful” one post above. thx

Re: Chinese money

Controlling my emotions are not your purview as a moderator. Nor is how I express them. You got a problem with my language give me an infraction. Otherwise I suggest you maintain a level of evenhandedness in your approach.

Or do you think comments on racial lines and provincial lines is acceptable? Simple question PD.

Re: Chinese money

your emotions are not my problem as a moderator as long as you express them appropriately. you are calling names to everyone who agree with the article. you have every right to disagree with the article but without calling others jahil and uneducated. Anyone, I am not continue to argue. We have made our point and i think lets leave it there.

Re: Chinese money

Chinese know how to do business with corrupt governments. They aren’t fools. Financial structure of projects is likely to be in such a format so as to shield the chinese from major damage. Offcourse, the haraam khori and theka commission will have to be paid out of pakistani tax payers pocket.

btw, the power projects really seem like stretch - roads etc sound more doable.

Re: Chinese money

agreed. by the way, that forces me to think about Americans…they arent stupid either. why did they keep on giving money to our govts and administration directly for so long

to corrupt them?

Re: Chinese money

LOL, necessary expenses to keep things spiraling out of control. How much money did they save as a result? All the NATO traffic - wreaked havoc on local infrastructure, no octroi, no custom duty, no payment to pakistan for using land and sea routes. All that money they saved by spending some here and keep the dogs loyal.
