Come on give me a break.. For muslims fasting is very important and no government can try to stop them from fasting. If something like that was happening, all the mainstream media would have lapped it up and given it wide publicity. Also there would have been a mass rebellion against the Govt from the resident muslims..

Yes. Chinese state policy may not be "anti-fasting". But one could expect from the local Han Chinese officials to be "Jihadi" against the Muslim workers.
Your other question about "Media" not picking up. Well Pakistani and Arab media already gone "gaga" about China. How could we say anything negative about the night in shining armor aka China?

Even though the story is from a source that is obviously anti-Chinese government, I don't doubt it.
The article does not state that all Muslim Uyghurs are forbidden to fast - only those who are members of the Communist Party, or those who were arrested after the recent unrest.
I'm not surprised if Muslims in the Communist Party are forbidden to fast, because part of the core of Communist ideology is that all religion is useless and serves only to make the people not care about the revolution. The party would be expected to view any of its members who are partaking in overt religious activitiy as subvertive to the party's interests.
Of course, most people only join the Communist Party so that they can get good jobs, rather than because of an actual belief in the system. I'm sure these Muslims are no exception to that.
As for the prisoners; well, China wants to torture them to punish them for the unrest, and denying the ability to take part in religious activity is part of that torture.

Imagine if such a situation had happened in an Indian Organisation. If some Org had forced its employees to not fast, most of the posters would have been crying on how bad India is. Now we dont see any reactions. Only lame excuses for the Chinese. Good going
