Which Islamic AUTHORITY other than Allah and Prophet Mohammad authorized this ritual for shias?
Or did some imam wake up some morning and said, "oh wait, since we couldn't save Imam Hussain and Hassan and we watched while they were killed, lets pay them back by beating ourselves." What a regretful way to pay respect. Allah is making shias punish themselves at their own hands here and I can't even imagine what will happen in hereafter.

They may have mourned as ANYBODY would when their loveones have been KILLED. I am talking about TODAYS's MATAM. Who authorized it and were mourning of relatives of Ali, hussain, etc. like that of today's matam?

Array bhia I told you earlier Karabala happened after Rasool Allah and Hazrat Ali in 61th Hijra the highest authority at that time was Imam e Zain ul Abideen and yes he did approve azadari.

1- I was not pointing finger at any group here in particular, the thread overall got very ugly, which is a fact, the name calling was getting out of hand
