^ The one by Fauzia?? What's your own recipe?
I like the use of the roux/bechamel but the spices were just odd. Garam masala + green chillies was way too spicy and weird for my liking. It was spicy in the sense of like, cinnamon or nutmeg...I thought the garam masala/chillies overpowered it. By "my own recipe" - I meant just black pepper, salt, red pepper flakes, white pepper, a dash of nutmeg and sriracha.
i have tried freezing it - for dinner i just thawed it for couple of hours and heated in over for i guess around 10 mins or so - it was good.
i have also tried fauzia's recipe - always a hit! i normally tweek the filling a bit - have tried with chicken cooked with tandoori masala with boiled kidney beans , keema with chick peas and peppers etc!
I'm thinking of doing this as well - more of a dry filling than a creamyish one.
I tried out the recipe today. Here are pictures of them before and after. They were actually pretty easy to make, although I have not tasted them yet, will do at Iftaar.I did however tweak the recipe for the filling. Will report back after I taste it…
EDIT:It tasted great…!
I boiled the chicken with salt, black pepper and a lil sriracha (sp?).Did not use any garam masala, chopped green chillies or coriander. And reduced the amount of flour and milk (but that would depend on the amount of chicken you have.I had a little less than what the recipe called for).
I made the one from fauzia last week, 3 from her recipe, the first one got stuck on the counter as I used little dough for rolling, so had to adjust some broken parts, next 2 were better. the filling is not very tasty, next time I am using her savey croissant filling.
I froze it as it was too much, will defreeze today and warm up in the oven, will take a pic today.
I want to try this magar ek sawal hai - when are you supposed to eat chicken bread? I can’t understand what to eat it as - itni mehnat ke liye you make fresh bread, and what, you eat it with like chai or something? Can people eat it as a main course, or is it served as a starter, or just something to snack on? I don’t want to waste my time if it’s just a snack.
Im lost at the slitting dough bit… How did she get it to brais like that? Take each snipped pce and actually braid it? I would have just rolled it and then put slit marks on top…would that work?
Khawa have you seen this link…??..it shows how to just make cuts in the dough and then keep on turning each strip inwards at a downward angle and eventually it looks like a braid…it is pretty easy.
I think you can do it the way you are saying but it wont give it the braid look.
