Re: 'chhila'/post pregnancy 40 days

I delivered on feb, 8th. I was at my mom after dilv. My mother in law always asked my mom to give soup and do massage for baby and me. Nothing more then that. But i didnt got massage done. I did it twice after my first dilv and felt headache.

No offence, but your inlaws seem very backwards. My sister in law just had her baby 6 months ago and she drove about a week after, did light housecleaning, went to an office colleagues engagement party wearing new jewelery her hubby had gotten for their last anniversary, used her computer to post baby pics a few days after the birth as well as up to recently, and not to mention took showers in the evening when hubby came from work and took care of the baby. Her parents are in Pakistan and couldn't come to help out but her husbands mother lives close by and came by a few times a week to help. Thank God my in laws are modern yet Islamic to a certain degree.

Oh and may I mention, that the mother is doing fine now. (sis in law) She just went back to work a few months back without any problems and now her baby is in a daycare she was recommended and referred to by a fellow masjid friend. Her baby has adjusted well there and well, nothing has gone wrong as far as I know, Your in laws are very superstitious. I remember an aunty had the nerve to tell my cousin she may have a bad marriage all because she caught a glimpse of her fiance a few days before the nikkaah! My cousin brushed it off and is Allah ke shukr se is now doing well in her marriage. I also remember another aunty telling me on my manjha that I should have worn one of my sisters dresses for good luck. She said her good marriage would rub off on me through her clothes...lol..never heard that before. My husband and I are doing just fine Allah ke fazal se. All these women back home with funny superstitions!
