Chappell was not happy with World Cup squad!

Re: Chappell was not happy with World Cup squad!

Sachin would have been as big a match winner as they come if he had played with a little bit better bowling attack. Most of the match winning batsmen people talk about played with very good bowling attacks.

Taking nothing away from any of those world class batsman one must keep in mind when the great Viv was pilling the misery on the opposing bowlers most of those innings turned out to be match winning as he had a fearsome bowling attack to back him.

Inzi is perhaps the biggest match winner of this era (in test matche) as 17 of his 22 hundereds resulted in Pakistan winning. But you also need to realize Inzi played with some of the best bowling talent behind him. He started off with a fading Imran and Wasim, Waqar and Aaqib bowling in tendum raising hell. With Aaqib leaving he was replaced by Shoaib. So Inzi played most of his career with a bowling attack that could back him.

Sachin on the other hand played throughout his life with pedistrian bowling attack to back him up. His centuries went in vain as others had no problem doing the same agaisnt India with their bowling line up. If anyone is to be blamed it should be the BCCI for a crappy structure that churns out pathetic bowlers, dont blame the system's failure on one main who's batting has been a treat to watch ever since he started his cricketing career.

Re: Chappell was not happy with World Cup squad!

The crisis in the Indian cricket team appears to be far worse than earlier believed. Sources close to coach Greg Chappell have told NDTV that he is particularly angry at the senior players and the selectors.

The source said that the coach believed that the biggest problem was that senior players operate like a mafia. They “hammer” and “abuse” them because they feel threatened by the junior players and don’t give them a chance.

The source added that captain **Rahul Dravid was “undermined” and that he "was under pressure from the senior players who operate like a “mafia”. **

Chappell did not mind staying on as coach but not with the same set of players. He, however, believed that the BCCI was trying to push him out and that the Board wanted him to take the blame for the World Cup debacle, sources added.

Re: Chappell was not happy with World Cup squad!

^ It's not something news to me....senior players in India have their own agenda...Indian Cricket will probably go through the worst phase, here on.

I am still worried that Dravid may get victimised by BCCI, after sacking him from Captaincy-- who will lead the side then, worst I can see is Gangu or Tendu given captaincy.

When a hard personality like Greg Chappel cannot control the "senior mafia" of Indian team...what do you expect a new person as a Coach can?

Sack these damn senior players and bring a new team...I will be happily watching these young and enthusiastic bloods of India like Sreesanth, Manoj Tiwari, Piyush Chawla etc. grooming as future prospects for 2011...
never mind if they loose a few initial match and but build a team based on performance and and commintment for team-spirit...

Changing Coach and Captain is not the solution here.

Re: Chappell was not happy with World Cup squad!

^ I wanna see Abid Nabi in the 2011 cricket squad as well since he looks very promising as a fast bowler for India. He's only 21 now but I'm hoping he'll be as good as Bret Lee or even better;) when 2011 rolls around.

Re: Chappell was not happy with World Cup squad!

^ Yes Abid Nabi as well..he has a good pace....I just pray he becomes a future fast bowler for team India....Fast, I mean Fast like Bonds, Taits etc ( sad exprience of Munaf not withstanding)
