And there you go, the construction work of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is under way.
The reason I shared this picture was, look at the workers, our Mazdoor, working in such extraordinary conditions. The heat is up to 50 ℃, sometimes more. And in the present situation is Baluchistan, specially the parts where this road is going to be linked (Kech, Panjgur, Kharan etc). We, sitting in our AC, drinking cold water, never appreciate the work done by our Mazdoor, the real heroes who actually build a country, from ruins to skyscrapers!
Today, I want to thank all of my countries Mazdoor and their family. Thank you for making efforts in astonishing conditions so we can get access to far off areas. Thank you all!

I am sharing work in progress pics on** Western route of CPEC.** Construction of road in the area is a challenging task but FWO is doing it with great sense of mission. Some friends have commented that why this road is not a six lane motorway. First of all let me clarify that there is no new six lane motorway project under construction for CPEC. CPEC plan is to improve/ upgrade existing highways for fastest connectivity. Peshawar-Lahore-Karachi motorway project is not a new project. It was started in 1990 by NS govt and was supposed to be completed by 2000. Unfortunately, due to political discontinuities it lingered on. Now it is being completed with BOT private sector financing on the basis of the traffic and cargo volume. If govt has to do a Karachi- Lahore section of motorway from its own resources it doesn’t have that much space yet and can’t afford it. Likewise, in future when traffic volume will grow, western route will also be dualized. When there are limited resources, infrastructure is build incrementally. This road is bringing revolution by providing remotest areas connectivity which enemies of development don’t want to happen. Inside China, there is also a similar two lane road from Khunjrab to Kashghar.

Liquefied natural gas: Govt seeks to negotiate Gwadar-Nawabshah Pipeline cost
By Zafar Bhutta

ISLAMABAD: The government has constituted a price negotiation committee in an attempt to seek a further reduction in the cost estimated by a Chinese company for laying the Gwadar liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline and setting up a terminal, an official says.
This project will work as an alternative to the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project and will be executed by the government in cooperation with the Chinese firm on a government-to-government basis.
Gwadar-Nawabshah: Work on portion to end by December 2017
Under the plan, the LNG pipeline will be laid from Gwadar to Nawabshah and the terminal will be set up at Gwadar port.
The price of steel, which stood at $1,300 per ton when the engineering consultant ILF gave the cost estimate, has come down to $900-$1,000 per ton.
**The consultant put the total cost of the pipeline and terminal at around $2.5 billion because of the fall in steel and compressor prices.
**
“However, the Chinese company has offered to develop the project at a cost standing below $2 billion in the financial bid opened by Interstate Gas Systems (ISGS),” a senior government official said, adding a price negotiation committee had been set up to negotiate a further reduction in the cost.
“The bid was much lower than expected,” the official said. Earlier, ISGS had expected the cost of 700 km of LNG pipeline from Gwadar to Nawabshah at $2.5 billion.
Gwadar’s ‘string of perils’
**He said the pipeline would be connected to the Iranian border at a cost of $200 million after sanctions against Tehran were lifted.
**
State-owned distribution companies – Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui
Southern Gas Company (SSGC) – will also get a share in pipeline construction as the Chinese company, China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, is bound to award 30% of work to them.
“This is a significant development that shows Pakistan is serious about kicking off work on the IP pipeline, but its implementation hinges on lifting of global sanctions against Iran,” ISGS Managing Director Mobin Saulat told The Express Tribune. ISGS is working to develop gas import projects.
Initiating the bidding process for the Gwadar pipeline indicated that Pakistan was truly interested in pushing ahead with the IP project.
Iran deal fuels tussle for gas pipelines in Pakistan
China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, selected by the Chinese government to lay the LNG pipeline and set up the terminal, had submitted the technical and financial bid for evaluation.
The company is already working on pipeline projects stretching over 8,000 km in different countries including Myanmar, Bangladesh, Russia and other nations. It has also laid pipelines from Turkmenistan to China.
“This is the first project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for which the technical and financial bids have been opened,” another official said.
The Chinese government would provide a cheap loan covering 85% of the project cost and the Pakistani government would contribute 15% of funds.
The Chinese firm will build the new terminal – a floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) – which will be owned by ISGS. The terminal will have the capacity to handle imports of 600 million cubic feet of LNG per day (mmcfd).
The LNG pipeline, which will be of 42-inch diameter, will be laid on the IP pipeline corridor from Gwadar to Nawabshah.*

KARACHI: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inspected on Monday the 1,320-megawatt coal-fired Bin Qasim power project and directed that it should be completed by December 2017.
He also asked the Chinese authorities concerned to take steps to make the project completely functional by the December 2017 deadline.
He was briefed that the project costing $1.5 billion would comprise two power houses; each of which would generate 660MW and would be connected to the national grid after completion.
Last year, the PM had laid the foundation of the project which is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) programme.
The Chinese authorities expressed their satisfaction over the security situation and the support given by the government of Pakistan.
They said first tranche of financing worth $200 million had already been released for the project and international standards were being followed during the construction.
Earlier, the prime minister was given a briefing on the projects undertaken by the Port Qasim Authority including the 250 industrial units set up in its allocated zone along with eight operational terminals.
Port Qasim is the most busy and an income-generating port, contributing immensely to the national economy.
An LNG terminal has been made operational at the port within a record period of 11 months, which converts LNG into gas. The government has been working on LNG-based power projects to generate about 3,600MW of electricity.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong and other high officials accompanied the prime minister.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.
Why PTI is opposing the corridor project...
Is it another sake for the sake of criticism or does they have some serious suggestions are there or they are going to oppose it as ANP opposed kalabagh and same ANP and some sindhi nationalists are totally fine with India making dam up stream.
The project can bring prosperity and economic stability in Pakistan..opposing it for the sake of it should be treated as treason.
Many believes if PMLN pulls it out it would be impossible to defeat them in 2018... The truth is if thus project is opposed as PTI is opposing it..then even without this project thet are going to win...only way to defear them is development and reforms... Pull that out...can challenge PMLN seriously...
PTI can abuse me now...but donot play with the future of this country..dastaan bhi na hogi dastaanoon main
