Is this supposed to be sarcastic then its fine, if its serious then one can only pray for your mental health .
Why not? Don't the players say Bismillah before anything and everything? What's wrong in taking advice from the ones who are closer to Allah?

So was I...how do u know who is closer to Allah? Is there a register or website where we can go and see who is closer and by how much? And is there a statsguru which can give us details of their relative performance?

There is no such thing but there is outter and inner appearance of a person which tells you how close they are to Allah. The perfect example was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Counterpoint and CricketPlaya,
Can you please get back to the REAL discussion of the thread?
Thank you.

^ The real dilema is...
Our arm chairs reasoning might be better than the mujra mood decisions our elite is used to taking, however neither can cause a positive change.
Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
Salam all,
IMO I dont see much of change to occur in the team with some exceptions, (Hafeez, Nazir and Rana [maybe Rao]) whoever comes in place of PCB chief will take the matter to heart (regardless how he is appointed); will draw a constitution and fine tune the domestic structure.
Imran Khan opinion will play a critical role in the new selection of the team; induction of fresh blood but more obvious choices are; Yasir Hameed, Salman Butt( he did well in domestic circuit as well), Shoaib Malik will take Inzi's slot (living to the expectation will be a tough ask).

Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
Change must now take place at the helm of cricket in Pakistan. full stop. Some serious changes in our cricket setup must be made, and Mr. Musharaf needs to set up a real board, not an adhoc one, Like Ramiz as Chairman and no more bureaucaratic lalloos in the system. If the current traumatic events don't spur these changes, nothing will.
Ramiz had said, "heads will roll", but one rolled without any PCB intervention. Woolmer is gone. Inzi is retired. We will probably sink against ZIM again.... I am almost at the point of giving up this sport completely. Cricket has become too competitive to keep believing that kids from the street will be able to win championships against these almost "factory" made teams.
When evolution fails revolution must take place!
Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
From the current developments, there seems to be no real change headed PCB's way. The same old Cheemi DNA is chairman and with the news about YoYo wanting total control, in all likely hood PCB will appoint a "dummy" coach to merely fill the slot on paper. Either that or play one on YoYo and appoint Mr. Politics Miandad to keep the 2 engaged among them selves. Plus, President Musharaf like cricket as a distraction from his own mischief. So he will let the Karachi ppl feel good with Miandad being the coach and pressurizing the selection committee to get his nephew in to the team.
Drama continues ..PCB style.
Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
At least for 2 years…try cricket without any board…and see the results… :k: ![]()
Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
^ Can't unfortunately...ICC rules....
Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
^^ Okay…then limit the board’s activities to international cricket relationships…board should stay out as far as the team’s performance is concerened…just leave it to the coach and the captain/VC… :k:

Former Pakistan fast bowler and Under-19 coach Aaqib Javed is Imran Khan and Nasim Ashraf’s preferred choice for national coach
A fortnight after the Pakistan Cricket Board publicly said it was highly likely that the next national coach would be a local, Cricinfo has learnt that a decision has been reached in principle to not exclude foreign names from a shortlist of four or five potential candidates.
Officially, Naseem Ashraf, chairman of the board, reiterated today his earlier statement that the PCB would not take any hasty decisions over the appointment of a captain, coach and selection committee. He was speaking after the latest meeting of the PCB’s ad-hoc committee at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
“We don’t want to take any decisions in haste,” Ashraf told reporters after the meeting. “We have discussed many issues, including the captaincy, a new coach and the selection committee but no decision has been taken just yet.”
However, it emerged that the biggest surprise from the four-hour meeting was the discussions over a new coach. Ashraf, in his press conference a fortnight ago, had said it was highly likely that the next coach would be a local but the board now seems to appreciate the fact that it may have to widen its search.
Aaqib Javed and Mansoor Rana, who have both coached Pakistan U-19 teams to World Cup glory, were discussed as choices; Aaqib, who has expressed his interest in the job and has the support of Imran Khan, is also the preferred choice of the chairman.
Beyond that, as one official pointed out, the choice is scarce and “the parameter of the search has to be broadened. In principle we have taken a decision to look at a cross-section of 4-5 names which will not preclude foreigners.”
At a similar meeting before the World Cup and Woolmer’s death, the committee had also decided to look for a foreign coach and John Wright, the former India coach, was among the names mentioned. Board officials communicated with him during the Champions Trophy in India last year, though nothing concrete has emerged from it.
Several names were also discussed with regard to the captaincy. Younis Khan, as expected, remains the front-runner - though, as some officials now privately concede, he himself remains reluctant to take over. “There is also a concern,” said an official, “that he has too excitable a temperament as a leader.”
Younis, who is due to leave for England shortly to begin his stint with Yorkshire, is, however, understood to be the chairman’s choice. Shoaib Malik, tipped regularly by Bob Woolmer as a future captain, is also said to be in the running, while the names of Salman Butt - currently out of national favour - and even Abdul Razzaq also came up alongside that of Mohammad Yousuf.
Ashraf also said that the identity of the new selection committee would be unveiled before the next ad-hoc committee meeting on May 7. Pakistan’s next selectors will be the first, fully-paid professionals in the country’s history and, though three names have been identified, they will not be announced immediately.
Among the favourites for the post of chief selector is Salahuddin Mulla Ahmed, former Test opener and many-time national selector. But Aamir Sohail, one-time radical, fire-breathing chief selector, has also been discussed alongside former internationals such as Shoaib Mohammad, Salim Jaffer and Naushad Ali.
No other decision is expected till the next meeting. “The spadework begins now,” one official pointed out. Pakistan’s next international assignment is also likely to be in May, a potential series of ODIs against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. Thereafter, a charity game or two apart and a Twenty20 knockabout in September, they have ample time till South Africa arrive in October for a major tour to take the big decisions.

Re: CHANGE MUST TAKE PLACE / WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEW STRUCTURE OF PCB?
Drama is continuing with almost every major news service reporting YoYo's hesitations and PCB's dilema to appoint a captain. The latest is that PCB is thinking of appointing a captain on a series to series basis. A move I believe would prove really a waste for them.
They want to infect their own adhocism into the cricket team as well.
