Chameleons or Character-less?

I know you have met at least one of these ppl in your life

the person who blends in with their surroundings..whether it’s a club/bar with coworkers, or a religious gathering with religious people…they adapt and blend in perfectly.

Do you consider them chameleons, or lacking character, in that they dont’ have a “true” face..and can blend in anywhere? Discuss.

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

I call them genius.

There's no harm in going to bars (they have red bull and diet coke too!) and going to religious events/gatherings..

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

I think its a fear or hesitancy to mingle with people and reveal their true personalities...whatever that may be. Its also a sign of someone not completely comfortable with themselves.

Some people need to blend first and then see where they fit in any social or professional setting.

Gotcha.

lolz

Not to forget they have virgin drinks too.

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

A person who mingles and mixes with every kind of crowd would be very successful in life. There are very few of us who can do that. Those who lack this talent always envy those who have it. :chai: and *papay:

Play Station 1: I am not taunting at thread starter. It is my general observation. :chai: aur *papay:
Play station 2: It is Pakistani forum and Chai and Papay is a killer desi breakfast combo why do we not have a papay smiley ?

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

I would call them versatile.

You can go to a bar and not drink. You can also go to masjid and not pray. Knowing who you are and your limitations is important

A postivie of socializing with a different crowds is that gives you more perspective.

I agree Mirch. I have only seen a handful of people that can blend in any crowd. But these ppl are extemely friendly and open minded and indeed successful. (characteristics of a good leader perhaps?)

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

Oie hold on I do that. What is wrong with it as long as you are having fun with your friends and not hurtin anybody. Whats with this lack of character bull****. We have characters....mine change depending on the situation I am in :D

I love lounges.. love the ambience! Awe hareem why didn't u just ask me? I like versatile people too.. stiff and joy-kills yuck!

yes yes yes! ;)

Yes exactly.

Sorry to say but I don't think hating stiff and joy-kills people makes you a versatile person. :)

true , a true blender will blend and will easily mix with killjoys and enjoy killing joy for others , too. :D

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

^that makes sense:D

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

Very interesting topic.

But where does one start to mingle so perfectly that they forget thier own personality know what I mean?

As with almost everything else in life; I think its a balancing act.
I agree these people are totally versitile - as long as they don't become someone's yes man.

Sorry to say I never called myself versatile either :)

I didn't use the word 'hate' I said yuck! That doesn't mean I don't get along with them..

Back to the topic.. the best are those that give 'deeni' lectures during the day.. and go clubbing by night!

Re: Chameleons or Character-less?

I agree with Muniya.

Blending in is one thing, totally changing one's personality/character is a whole different territory. It is often hard to realise when the said person is being fake and when they are being 'true to themselves'.

Adapting oneself to the social context is good. Overhauling one's character to acheive this would be a no-no in my opinion.

I think there are two types of Chameleonians. There are those who blend in all type of surroundings with every type of people just to make others happy then there are those who mix and mingle with people just to get promoted or just to enjoy the life at its fullest, they're kinda selfish and hypocritical people and sometimes called buttkissers. No one really likes them.
